University of Washington Football Lands Major Transfer From Ohio State in Portal cover image

The Huskies are working to fill out the wide receiver position.

One day after getting the schedule release for 2026, the University of Washington football program secured a key transfer from the portal for the new campaign.

According to Chris Hummer of CBS Sports, the Huskies have received the commitment of wide receiver Bodpegn Miller, formerly of Ohio State. Hummer reminds us that he was a top 247 Sports recruit in the 2025 class.

About Miller

A talented player and Ohio native, Miller signed with the Buckeyes in December of 2024, but he did not see any game action in 2025 as Ohio State advanced to the College Football Playoff.  As a result, Miller will have four full seasons of eligibility left in Seattle.

In the 2024 high school season, he was a finalist for the Mr. Football Award in Ohio.

Something to watch for

Miller was ranked as the No. 12 athlete in the class by 247 Sports and he played quarterback and defensive back in high school. From his Ohio State player page:

• Holds school records for career passing yards, career passing touchdowns, career rushing yards, single season passing yards and single season rushing yards

Thew for 2,216 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior while rushing for nearly 2,000 yards and 21 TDs

• Owns four school records in track and is an All-Ohioan in the 200-meter dash and 4x200 meter relay

Is there any chance at all that Jedd Fisch moves him off receiver and transitions him back to a quarterback or a defensive back position? With athleticism and speed like that, it could be tempting, but it's also tempting to keep him at receiver and utilize the speed there.

About the Huskies in 2026

Washington is in need of skill players in the new campaign, as wide receiver Denzel Boston and running back Jonah Coleman are leaving for the NFL Draft. Furthermore, running back Adam Mohammed officially transferred to California.

Of course, if you have a good quarterback you can overcome a lot of things and Washington has one in Demond Williams Jr. But he's got to overcome his own offseason drama in order to have the full support of his team in 2026, and there's some real fence-mending to do.

It ends on Thanksgiving weekend on the road at Oregon.
