The Washington Huskies football team is continuing to stay active in the transfer portal.
Recently, one of the Huskies' more prominent players to leave via the portal has found a new home and the Dawgs landed a defensive lineman.
Sophomore running back Adam Mohammed recently confirmed his commitment to Washington's former Pac-12 rivals and current ACC school, the Cal Golden Bears, in a post on "X" on Tuesday.
Mohammed was the team's primary backup for senior running back Jonah Coleman this past season. The former started several games due to injuries to the latter.
Mohammed ran the ball 106 times for 523 yards (4.9 yards a carry) and five touchdowns. He also caught 17 passes for 138 yards.
Mohammed was expected to be the Huskies' starting running back in 2026 with Coleman entering the draft but opted for the transfer portal instead. Mohammed had a scheduled visit with Texas A&M he canceled before announcing his commitment to Cal.
MORE HUSKIES STORIES:
On the same day of Mohammed's commitment, Washington landed a commitment from one of the more prominent programs in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
According to his Instagram, Sacramento State defensive lineman DeSean Watts.
The 6-foot-2, 318-pound sophomore played one season at Fresno City Junior College in 2024 before heading north to Sacramento State.
In his lone season with the Hornets, Watts was named first-team All-Big Sky. He finished the year with 36 total tackles, two sacks, four tackles for loss, one pass defended and four quarterback hurries. He was one of the highest-graded defensive lineman in stopping the run at both the FCS and Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) levels.
Watts is the second confirmed portal acquisition for the Huskies.
Washington acquired Sam Houston (and fellow sophomore) offensive lineman Kolt Dieterich the day before Watts announced he was joining the program.
Watts will make up for some depth lost by Washington in the front seven via the portal.
Bryce Butler committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders earlier in the portal and linebacker Deven Bryant committed to the Huskies' Big Ten rivals, Southern California (USC).
The Huskies also have offers in place for New Mexico State redshirt senior defensive lineman Ezra Christensen and Miami freshman d-lineman Donta Simpson Jr.
Washington will look to continue to add via the portal to couple with its 2026 recruiting class, which ranks 12th in the country. Twenty of the 25 players in the class have already enrolled in classes and are competing in spring workouts.
The portal officially closes in a week-and-a-half on Jan. 16.
