The Washington Huskies football team is well on its way to establishing a solid foundation for the future.
The Huskies finished 2025 at 9-4 — a three-win improvement from head coach Jedd Fisch's first year manning the team in 2024.
Washington is also hard at-work trying to add to the roster after losing several key players and reserves in the transfer portal.
Whatever additions the Huskies make via the transfer portal will be bolstered by one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
The Dawgs have the 12th-highest-ranked class of 2026 according to 247Sports.
And many of those players are already on campus in Seattle.
MORE HUSKIES STORIES:
According to a story from Seattle Times reporter Andy Yamashita, 20 of the players in the '26 recruiting class will participate in spring practices and conditioning on the first day of the winter quarter Jan. 5.
According to Yamashita's story, the 20 players on campus consist of: Kekua Aumua (tight end); Brian Bonner (running back); Jordan Clay (wide receiver); Derek Colman-Brusa (edge); Trez Davis (wide receiver); Gavin Day (safety); Elijah Durr (cornerback); Ramzak Fruean (linebacker); Kodi Greene (offensive lineman); Dominic Harris (offensive lineman); Mason James (wide receiver); Ksani Jiles (cornerback); Jeron Jones (cornerback); Blaise LaVista (wide receiver); Ansu Sanoe (running back); Ezaya Tokio (linebacker); Tufanua Ionatana Umu-Cais (defensive tackle); Sam Vyhlidal (tight end); C.J. Wallace (kicker) and Derek Zammit (quarterback).
The five remaining players in the class, will enroll later in the year. Those five players are: Rahsjon Duncan (cornerback); J.D. Hill (defensive lineman); Ta'a Malu (defensive lineman); David Schwerzel (defensive lineman) and Ah Deong Yang (offensive lineman).
Due to the team's willingness to play younger players, the program has encouraged incoming recruits to enroll at the college early in order to get a full offseason of workouts and practices in.
This past season, Washington had several key contributors from the freshman class, notably offensive lineman John Mills, who made multiple All-Freshman lists. There was also wide receiver Dezmen Roebuck, who was the team's second-leading pass-catcher, and running back Jordan Washington, who had more than 200 yards rushing.
"We are excited about this group," Fisch said in Yamashita's story. "We have every position on offense and defense filled in, so we have the ability to go out and play."
The '26 class is the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history and there's already anticipation that some players, such as Greene and Clay, could be true freshman starters for the Huskies next season.
