The Washington Huskies football team are remaining active in the transfer portal and have already bolstered the trenches with a recent commitment.
According to a post on his official account on "X" (@dieterich_kolt), the Huskies landed former Sam Houston and redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Kolt Dieterich.
Dieterich was the highest-graded offensive tackle in the Conference-USA this past season (75.5), according to Pro Football Focus.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound lineman will likely factor into one of Washington's open offensive line positions in 2026. He'll also help the team make up depth at the line of scrimmage, which was impacted with the outgoing transfer of fellow offensive linemen Paki Finau, Maximus McCree and Zachary Henning.
Dieterich has two years of college eligibility remaining.
MORE HUSKIES STORIES:
The Huskies also continue to remain active in finding depth on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage.
According to a post on "X" from Kevin Cacabelos (@SeaTownKev) via a report from Marcus Benjamin of Rivals.com, Washington will host freshman Miami defensive lineman Donta Simpson Jr. this week.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2025 and is currently graded as a three-star portal prospect by 247sports.
Simpson didn't register a lot of playing time in his true freshman season. He was on the field for 105 snaps and had four total tackles.
The former Hurricane also reportedly has visits scheduled with Illinois, Texas and SMU. Illinois is the only of the four programs that offered Simpson out of high school.
Simpson is another potential acquisition that would help the Huskies make up for depth lost via the transfer portal.
Former defensive lineman Bryce Butler left the program in the portal and recently committed to Texas Tech.
Washington has offered several defensive lineman via the transfer portal, including redshirt senior New Mexico defensive lineman Ezra Christensen, who have a lot more playing experience than Simpson.
Due to the difference in experience between Simpson and Christensen, there's reason to expect that the Huskies are targeting Simpson mainly for depth with the chance he can develop and earn more playing time.
Washington is coming off a significant improvement in the program's second year under head coach Jedd Fisch.
The Huskies went 6-7 last season and 9-4 this past season. The program also inked the 12th-ranked recruiting class in the country, which is likely to produce several starters in 2026.
A successful portal window will help Washington maintain its development next season.
The portal is open until Jan. 16.
