The Washington Huskies football's teams last two games have market the best win of the season and worst loss of the season, respectively.
The Huskies earned a 42-25 win against then-No. 23 Illinois on Oct. 25. They had a bye week following the win and earned a No. 24 placement on the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll and were ranked No. 23 on the first College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings of the season. They became bowl-eligible with the win against Illinois.
At the time of its ranking, UW was 6-2 and 3-2 against Big Ten opponents. The only two losses for Washington was against Oregon and Michigan, both ranked opponents.
Following the bye, the Huskies dropped a game 13-10 to the unranked Wisconsin Badgers on Nov. 8. It was the first Big Ten win of the season for Wisconsin. The loss dropped Washington to 6-3 on the season and 3-3 in the Big Ten.
Coming off the upset loss, the Huskies fell off the latest AP Top 25 poll released Nov. 9 and didn't receive a vote.
Before the loss, Washington had an outside chance at making the CFP. It would have had to win its final four games of the season and needed teams above it in the Top 25 to lose to make the 12-team playoff.
The Huskies will have an opportunity to close out the regular season a strong note and spoil one of their biggest rivals' playoff hopes.
Washington has three more games left in the season. It will play Purdue at 4 p.m. PT on Nov. 15, UCLA at a to-be-determined time on Nov. 22 and No. 7 Oregon at a to-be-determined time on Nov. 29.
