In the current landscape of college football, recruiting classes have become all the more important as teams search for some consistency year-over-year.
In that effort, the Huskies have taken a big step in that regard.
Washington inked the 12th-best recruiting class in the country for 2026, which was the highest-ranked class in program history.
The Huskies are also well on their way to putting together a solid 2027 class.
On Jan. 31, three-star '27 linebacker Titus Osterman announced his commitment to Washington. He committed during an unofficial visit to the campus.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is listed as an "athlete" according to the 247Sports Composite.
Osterman is listed as the best player in Idaho and the 65th-best athlete in the country according to the Composite. He picked the Huskies over other offers from Washington State and Utah State.
The Kimberly, Idaho, native became the fourth player to commit to Washington from the '27 class. The other three players are: four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope and three-star athlete Maurice Williams.
Currently, the Huskies' 27 class ranks 19th in the country according to 247Sports.
Osterman could just become the first in what's a series of high-end moves for Washington.
In addition to the four aforementioned commitments, the Huskies are also one of the final teams being considered by four-star cornerback Josiah Molden and four-star quarterback Sione Kaho.
Washington has also offered the top player in Massachusetts, Parker Bourque, a four-star quarterback who's currently committed to Michigan.
When Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch was hired ahead of the 2024 season, he came in with the reputation as a program rebuilder.
Last season, Washington improved from a 6-7 record in Fisch's first year to 9-4 and capped off the year emphatically with a 38-10 victory against the Boise State Broncos in the Los Angeles Bowl.
This offseason, on top of signing one of the best classes in the nation, the Huskies have also received preseason Top 25 buzz.
If Washington makes due on that buzz and inks two Top 25 classes in a row, the Dawgs could be very well positioned to return to Big Ten contention in the near future.
The Huskies 2026 season begins with an Apple Cup showdown against in-state rivals, the Washington State Cougars, at a to-be-determined time on Sept. 5 at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Washington will begin Big Ten play against Minnesota on Sept. 26 at home.
