The Washington Huskies football team has been steadily building its 2027 recruiting class.
Washington's 2027 recruiting class added another player Jan. 29.
Four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney announced his commitment to the Huskies. He's the first recruit of the class that's graded as a four-star or better, the second wide receiver of the class and the first hard commit outside the Pacific Northwest.
Sidney, out of Goodyear, Ariz., is ranked as the 46th-best wide receiver in the country and sixth-best player in Arizona according to the 247Sports Composite. He was also the first player to commit to the program in 2026.
Sidney chose the Huskies over offers from other notable programs, including native programs Arizona and Arizona State; the defending College Football Playoff national champions Indiana; other Big Ten rivals Michigan, UCLA and USC and Miami, Notre Dame, Florida State, SMU and Arkansas, among others.
Sidney helped his high school, Desert Edge, win the 2024 5A Arizona state championship. He caught 45 passes for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns. He dealt with injuries this past season and only caught 11 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Director of scouting for 247Sports, Andrew Ivins, had the following scouting report on the 6-foot, 175-pound pass-catcher:
Skilled wide receiver with a well-rounded game that should offer some inside-outside versatility with his tempo and hands.
Burst onto the scene as a sophomore for Arizona’s 5A champions before having junior campaign stalled by injury.
Creates separation with swift releases and will snap open at the intermediate level with slick route running and sudden movements.
Not the biggest or strongest target, but attacks the football with impressive body positioning and will absorb contact in traffic.
Sidney's commitment could kick off a stretch of commitments for Washington.
The Huskies are also reportedly one of the final teams being considered by four-star '27 quarterback Sione Kaho, four-star cornerback Josiah Molden and have offered four-star offensive lineman Oluwasemilore Olubobola.
If Washington is able to land one of the aforementioned four-star players, then it will be in great position to add the first touches to what could be a solid '27 class.
The Huskies already inked one of the best recruiting classes in the country for '26. It ranked 12th at the time of signing day, which was the highest-ranked class in program history.
