The undefeated Huskies could get a major bolster to their roster with the return of Elle Ladine

SEATTLE — The No. 25 Washington Huskies women's basketball team has put together a great start to the 2025-26 season.

The Huskies improved to 4-0 on the season after a 61-43 win against the Fresno State Bulldogs on Wednesday at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle.

It's been an eventful week for Washington.

Within the last seven days, the Huskies maintained their position on the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 poll and junior guard Sayvia Sellers was named the Big Ten and National Player of the Week on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

Sellers had a team-high 14 points, eight assists, three blocks and three steals in Washington's win against Fresno State.

Washington has accomplished this without one of the best players on the roster.

All-conference senior guard Elle Ladine has yet to play this season due to an undisclosed injury.

Ladine was listed as questionable before the game against the Bulldogs but didn't ultimately play.

"Elle's been doing tremendous," Head coach Tina Langley said in a postgame interview Wednesday. "She's been working her tail off in rehab and really you can see that. Had an opportunity to warm up, so she's day-to-day."

Ladine has been with the Huskies the entirety of her collegiate career and posted a career-best season in 2024-25.

Ladine averaged 17 points across 33 games on 47.3% shooting from the floor, including 39.3% from 3-point range. She also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Ladine was named second-team all-Big Ten last season after helping lead Washington its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017 and first under Langley.

The Huskies will have a solid stretch in front of them that can help lead to success for the rest of the season.

Washington's game against Fresno State was the first of five-straight home games at Alaska Airlines Arena.

After the Huskies' home stretch, Washington will play its first Big Ten of the season against Southern California (USC) at 5 p.m. PT on Dec. 7 at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.

Washington could enter the game against USC 8-0. If the team has that record with Elle Ladine back in the fold, it might have a really good opportunity to make headway in the Big Ten.
