Tina Langley could be on the radar of the Tide after leading the Huskies to a 20-win season and the Round of 32

The Washington Huskies women's basketball team is coming off it's best year since the 2016-17 season.

The Huskies finished the season 22-11 and advanced to the Round of 32. They're season ended in a 62-59 overtime loss against the TCU Horned Frogs on March 22.

This past season marked the second consecutive NCAA tournament berth for UW. It marked the first time the program has made consecutive tourneys since 2016-17 and the first time the team won a game in March Madness since the Kelsey Plum-led Washington squad in '17.

This year marked the third NCAA tournament berth and first tournament win for Huskies head coach Tina Langley. She made March Madness once as head coach of the Rice Owls (2019) and twice now with UW (2025-26).

And a Southeastern Conference (SEC) squad close to home for Langley could be pursuit of her services.

The Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball program recently lost head coach Kristy Curry, who was hired by South Florida on March 24.

Curry was the head coach of the Crimson Tide for 13 seasons from 2013-26. She had a 245-173 overall record at Alabama and led the team to NCAA tournament appearances in five of the last six seasons.

The Tide will have a tall task replacing Curry but Langley could be emerging as a legitimate option for the program.

According to a post on "X" from USA Today Sports reporter Mitch Northam, Langley's buyout would drop to $175,000 after April 1.

Langley, a Jasper, Ala., native, grew up just over an hour away from Alabama, which is in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Interestingly, the Crimson Tide are not using a search firm to hire their next head coach.

The decision not to use a search firm could mean multiple different things for Alabama. It could be looking internally and plans to promote an assistant or associate coach to the head coaching role, or the university could already a specific list of names it wishes to pursue.

If the reason for not using a firm leans towards the latter, it makes sense why Langley's name could be considered.

In addition to being native to Alabama, Langley also has coaching experience in the SEC and south region as a whole. She was an assistant coach for the Atlantic Coast Conference's (ACC) Clemson from 2003-05 and was an assistant at Georgia in 2005.

Langley also spent her entire playing career in her native state. She suited up for Bevill State Community College from 1991-93 before transferring to West Alabama, where she played from 1993-95.

Langley has a 209-132 overall record as a head coach in her career and an 83-71 record at Washington.
