The Huskies will be looking from Detroit to their own backyard to find a signal-caller for 2028 in AJ Tuivaiave.
For the third recruiting class in a row, the Washington Huskies football team has continued its heightened efficiency on the recruiting trail.
The Huskies' Class of 2026 ranked 12th in the country, which set a program record for the highest-ranked class in program history.
Currently, Washington's 2027 recruiting class ranks 25th in the country, per 247Sports.
The Huskies still have seven months until National Signing Day to continue to build the '27 recruiting class, but that hasn't stopped them from looking ahead to the 2028 graduates.
Washington is already one of the final teams being considered by five-star edge rusher Jalanie George.
The Huskies have also extended an offer sheets to one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Donald Tabron II.
Tabron ranks as the 31st best overall player in the class, third-best quarterback in the class and third-best player in Michigan, per the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-3 1/2. 180-pound signal-caller attends Cass Technical High School in Detroit.
Washington has stiff competition for Tabron, including Texas A&M, which currently has the highest odds (88.6%) to land him, per On3 Sports.
This hasn't stopped the Huskies from trying, as they also offered one of Tabron's high school wide receiver targets, four-star Mylan Griggs.
Washington applied the same approach to two of their Class of 2026 recruits: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and three-star wideout Zerek Sidney from Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz.
If the Huskies are unsuccessful in landing the Motor City signal-caller, they have another option right in their backyard.
Washington has started to ramp up the recruiting efforts for three-star quarterback AJ Tuivaiave, who attends Graham-Kapowsin High School in Graham, Wash. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound signal-caller is ranked as the 362nd-best overall player, 25th-best quarterback and fifth-best player in Washington in the Class of '28, per the 247Sports Composite.
Tuivaiave completed 70.2% of his passes for 3,029 yards, 32 touchdowns and two interceptions in his sophomore season this past fall.
The Huskies recruitment of Tuivaiave. The program first offered him Jan. 28, 2025, and UW's early pursuit of the local quarterback. which is spear-headed by quarterbacks coach J.P. Losman, seems to be yielding early results.
There's currently one team listed as "warm" on his 247sports player page, which is Washington.
On3 sports currently has the Huskies as the narrow favorites to land Tuivaiave, over other programs such as Oregon, Miami, Arizona State and Cal, among others.
