The Washington Huskies football team is attempting to make a final push for its 2027 recruiting class and is a day away from finding out the decisions of two of the top remaining offensive line targets on its board, Gecova Doyal and Tye Kennedy.

Another offensive line target, DaJohn Yarborough, will announce his commitment a week-and-a-half later July 11.

While the Huskies patiently await the decisions of the players in the trenches, they're attempting to have a strong head start on the Class of 2028.

Washington is already in the thick of the recruiting for several of the top edge rushers in the Class of '28, including five-star edge rusher Jalanie George.

George is ranked as the ninth-best overall player, second-best edge rusher and best player in Arizona in the class, per the 247Sports composite. He attends Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., just like two Class of 2027 commits: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and three-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney.

The 6-foot-4 1/2, 245-pound edge rusher has already identified the Huskies as one of the final six teams he's considering. The other five finalists are: Auburn, Ohio State, Miami, Oklahoma and Florida.

Washington is also attempting to make it a fourth consecutive year in a row where it's landed the top player in Washington state.

For the Class of '28, that top in-state player also doubles as one of the top players in the nation.

The Huskies are attempting to make a focused push to land five-star tight end Tytan McNeal.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end is ranked as the 36th best player in the class, the best tight end and the best player in Washington, per the 247Sports composite.

McNeal attends Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish, Wash., roughly 20 miles from Washington's home field of Husky Stadium. UW first offered him Aug. 31, 2025, and the top 50 recruit has begun his unofficial visits. 

Washington's increased success on the recruiting trail since head coach Jedd Fisch was hired ahead of the 2024 season has coincided with a better in-state foothold.

The Huskies have landed the top player available in Washington state from 2025-27 per the 247Sports rankings.

Washington landed Zaydrius Rainey-Sale in the Class of 2025, defensive lineman Derek Colman-Brusa in the Class of 2026 and wide receiver Braylon Pope and defensive lineman Tevita Nonu in the Class of 2027. Pope is ranked as the top player in the state per 247Sports composite and Nonu is ranked as the top Washington player per the website's player rankings.

If the Huskies are able to make it four-for-four on top in-state recruits and make a push to land George, the 2028 recruiting class has a legitimate chance of being the best in the program's history.
