The Washington Huskies football team has recently come out on the wrong end of several recruiting battles to Big Ten rivals.

The Huskies lost out on four-star safety Gavin Williams to the Southern California (USC) Trojans and four-star safety Malakai Taufoou to the Oregon Ducks on Saturday.

In addition to those two recruiting losses, Washington also was unable to land four-star cornerback Josiah Molden, who opted to stay in-state with Oregon.

Even with the Huskies recent losses recruiting in the secondary, they seem to be gearing to land another highly-rated safety.

According to a report from Greg Biggins of Rivals.com, Washington "has the edge" in the recruitment of four-star Class of 2027 recruit Jaden Walk-Green.

According to Biggins' report, the Vanderbilt Commodores, Arizona State Sun Devils, Kansas State Wildcats, UCLA Bruins and Oregon are also finalists being considered by Walk-Green.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound safety has official visits lined up for the end of May and June. He'll visit the Ducks on May 29, the Commodores on June 2, the Huskies on June 5, Sun Devils on June 12, Wildcats on June 16 and Bruins on June 19.

Arizona State has been the presumptive front-runners for most of Walk-Green's recruiting cycle but Washington has been given the edge in recent weeks, in large part due to another athletic program for the university getting involved.

Walk-Green also plays baseball in addition to football, and the Huskies baseball team, which was recently eliminated in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten tournament, is getting involved in his recruitment, per Biggins' report.

Walk-Green, who attends Corona Centennial High School in Corona, Calif., recorded 125 total tackles (including 64 solo), 10 interceptions, one pass defended and one fumble recovery in 13 games this past fall.

Walk-Green is ranked as the 349th best overall player, 35th-best safety and 30th-best player in California in the class, according to the 247Sports composite.

According to Rivals.com's prediction model, Washington has the likeliest odds to land him at 89.9%. The Sun Devils are second at 3.2%.

The Huskies currently have two defensive backs committed among the '27 graduates: four-star safety Isala Aisa Wily-Ava and three-star cornerback/athlete Maurice Williams.

Walk-Green also has positional versatility, which defensive coordinator Ryan Walters values in his secondary. In addition to playing safety, Walk-Green can also play cornerback.

Washington's '27 recruiting class currently ranks 13th in the nation, and have several irons in the fire for a quarterback, edge rusher, cornerback and wide receivers.
