The Washington Huskies men's basketball team is working hard to land several of the top players in the Classes of 2027 and 2028.
The Huskies, who were able to land just one player in the graduating class of 2026, three-star small forward Lattimore Ford, have cast a wide net for the next two class of soon-to-be high school graduates.
Deng Ngor, a four-star power forward from the Class of '27, is among the players considering Washington as a potential fit. Five-star '27 forward Ahmed Nur also has UW on his radar. The program is also pushing to land five-star '27 forward Malachi Jordan, who has the Huskies among the final teams he's considering.
One of the top players in the Class of '28 also has Washington on his radar.
Per a report on "X" from Dushawn London of 247Sports, the Huskies are set to host five-star shooting guard Jordan Mize on Sept. 18 for an official visit.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound two-guard attends recruiting hotbed Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth, Calif., and has been offered by several notable programs, including but not limited to: the Tennessee Volunteers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Arizona State Sun Devils, TCU Horned Frogs and Creighton Bluejays.
Several of Washington's Big Ten rivals are also in pursuit of Mize: the Oregon Ducks, UCLA Bruins and Southern California (USC) Trojans chief among them.
Mize is ranked as the 22nd-best player in the nation, third-best shooting guard and third-best player from California in his class, per the 247Sports composite.
The Rivals Industry rankings has Mize slotted as the 20th-best player in his class, the fifth-best shooting guard and the fourth-best player in California.
Despite Mize being over a year out from graduating, On3's prediction model already has the Huskies as the clear favorite to land him.
Washington has an 83.4% chance to land a commitment from Mize, per the model. Arizona State has the second-best odds at 4.6% and Oregon is third at 3.9%.
The Huskies have been generally successful in recruiting under head coach Danny Sprinkle, landing notable but since-departed players such as Zoom Diallo, Hannes Steinbach, JJ Mandaquit and Courtland Muldrew. This year, they were unable to replicate the same success with high school graduates and instead relied on their international Pipeline.
Of the nine spots Washington had to fill to complete a full roster for this season, three were recruited overseas: Wini Braga (Brazil), Boris Tisma (Croatia) and Tristan Devers (Australia). Returning player Nikola Dzepina and transfer portal Harun Zrno were also originally recruited after playing overseas.
