The Huskies are making a push for Jag Ioane, who could be their second edge-rusher commit from the Class of 2027
The Washington Huskies football team has earned a series of commitments this month, many of whom from the team's crop of top remaining targets.
The players who've committed to the Huskies this month alone include: four-star wide receivers Tre Moore and Dontay Tyson Jr. and three-star edge rusher Chaz Gray. Two of the three players, Gray and Tyson, took official visits with Washington before committing.
Gray was the first edge rusher to commit to the Huskies in the 2027 recruiting class, and they seem to be making a push to land the second defensive end from the class.
Washington hosted three-star edge rusher Jag Ioane on June 8 and seemed to make a good impression on him.
According to an article from Kevin Cacabelos of SeaTown Sports, the Huskies made a good impression on Ioane during his official visit.
"The coaches made it feel very family-oriented and I felt very welcomed the whole time I was there," Ioane said in the article.
Ioane is ranked as the 1,172nd-best overall player, 94th-best edge rusher and 17th-best player in Utah per the 247Sports composite.
Ioane attends Orem High School in Orem, Utah.
According to his 247Sports page, the only team that Ioane is "warm" on outside of universities in his home state is Washington.
The other two teams Ioane is "warm" on is Utah and BYU.
Rivals.com's prediction model has a different assessment on the schools that the edge rusher is high on.
The website has the Huskies with the fifth-highest odds to land the Utah-based edge rusher.
Michigan has the highest-odds to land Ioane at 35.5%; BYU has the second-highest odds at 23.7%; Utah has the third-highest odds at at 20.3%; Boise State has the fourth-highest odds at 16.4% and Washington has a 1.1% chance to earn a commitment.
Washington's '27 recruiting class currently ranks 23rd in the nation, per 247Sports.
The 22 teams ranked ahead of the Huskies per the publication are, in order: Texas A&M, Miami, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Florida, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Southern California (USC), Clemson, UCLA, Penn State, Georgia, Auburn, Ohio State, Texas, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Kentucky, Cal, Minnesota and Texas Tech.
Ioane would be a big boost to the team's front seven in the '27 recruiting class. Outside of Gray, the program's other linebackers and defensive linemen who have committed in the class are: four-star defensive linemen Jon Ioane and Tevita Nonu, three-star defensive lineman Matamatagi Uiagalelei and three-star linebackers Isaiah Leilua, Ethan Coach, Justin Coach and Titus Osterman.
