Three-star Class of 2027 quarterback and basketball player Caden Jones opted to join his older brother with the Arizona Wildcats rather than head to the Pacific Northwest.
The Washington Huskies football team was able to get a big commitment for the Class of 2027 when it landed four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf.
The signal-caller from Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., ranks as the 175th-best overall player, 14th-best quarterback and fourth-best player in Arizona per the 247Sports composite.
The Huskies were also able to land one of Roskopf's top targets from high school, three-star Desert Edge High School wide receiver Zerek Sidney.
Based on recent commitments, Roskopf will likely be the only quarterback committed in the Class of '27.
Washington was one of the final teams being considered by three-star quarterback Caden Jones. But he opted to commit to the Arizona Wildcats over the Baylor Bears and the Huskies on Friday.
Jones attends Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, Calif. He's ranked as the 613rd-best overall player, 36th-best quarterback and 47th-best player in California in the Class of '27 per the 247Sports composite.
He's ranked as the 610th-best overall player, 37th-best quarterback and 47th-best player in California according to Rivals Industry rankings.
Jones is the second player from Crean Lutheran in the last two days that opted to commit to Arizona over Washington.
Four-star cornerback Evan Mack opted to commit to the Wildcats over the Arizona Sun Devils and the Huskies on Thursday.
Jones will join his older brother, linebacker Carter Jones, who also is with Arizona.
The UW football team lost out on the opportunity to have a two-quarterback recruiting class. Which, in the current landscape of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals and the transfer portal, can often be an invaluable luxury.
However, Jones choosing the Wildcats also impacts the men's basketball team as well.
Jones is a two-sport athlete at Crean Lutheran and also plays basketball. Head Washington men's basketball coach Danny Sprinkle, who landed just one Class of 2026 commit this offseason, extended a scholarship offer to Jones.
In addition to being the second quarterback to commit to the class, Jones would have also been the second two-sport athlete to commit in the '27 class.
The Huskies landed four-star safety Jaden Walk-Green, who also plays baseball. He plans on continuing with both football and baseball in college.
Washington's 2027 recruiting class currently ranks 25th in the country, per 247Sports' rankings.
That mark ranks ninth in the Big Ten, per 247Sports. The eight teams ranked ahead of the Huskies are, in order: Oregon (No. 2 in the country), Ohio State (No. 7), Penn State (No. 13), USC (No. 16), UCLA (No. 18), Michigan (No. 19), Nebraska (No. 20) and Wisconsin (No. 23).
