The Huskies are still looking for a second cornerback to add to their '27 ranks after Evan Mack joined former Pac-12 rival, the Arizona Wildcats.
The Washington Huskies football team is coming off one of its most successful days of the season July 1.
The Huskies landed commitments from two of the top offensive line targets remaining for the program. Three-star offensive tackle Tye Kennedy and four-star offensive tackle Gecova Doyal both committed to Washington among respective lists of final teams including Big Ten rivals.
The pair of offensive line commitments has the Huskies' '27 recruiting class ranked 25th in the country, per 247Sports.
But while Washington has had success on the offensive line, and other positions such as wide receiver (four commitments), the program hasn't had the same success when it comes to cornerbacks.
The Huskies have one cornerback, Maurice Williams, currently committed in the '27 class. He announced his intention to join Washington on Dec. 24, 2025.
Williams, who attends Timberline High School in Lacey, Wash., is ranked as the 613rd-best overall player, 64th-best cornerback and seventh-best player in Washington state, per the 247Sports composite.
Since Williams committed, the Huskies have attempted to land several cornerbacks to pair with Williams in the Class of '27.
Washington has been unsuccessful in that effort. It was one of the final teams for three-star cornerback Jeovanni Henley, who opted to commit to Cal. Henley is ranked as the 1,416th-best player, 106th-best athlete and 120th-best player in California, per the 247Sports composite.
Henley wasn't the only corner the Huskies lost to the Golden Bears. Four-star cornerback Kamil Loud chose Cal over a final six that included Washington. Loud is ranked as the 320th-best overall player, 38th-best cornerback and second-best player in Nevada, per the 247Sports composite.
On Thursday, the Huskies lost a third potential cornerback to add to their class.
Four-star cornerback Evan Mack committed to the Arizona Wildcats over Washington and the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Mack attends Crean Lutheran in Irvine, Calif. He's ranked as the 613rd-best overall player, 64th-best cornerback and 47th-best player in California, per the 247Sports composite.
Aside from Williams, the Huskies have just two other defensive backs committed in the Class of '27: four-star safeties Jaden Walk-Green and Isala Aisa Wily-Ava.
Even with Washington's lack of fortune in landing a second cornerback, there's still an opportunity for the Huskies to land another corner to pair with Williams before the recruiting cycle concludes.
Washington is one of the finalists remaining for four-star cornerback Censere Gaylord, who's still yet to announce a commitment date. He's ranked as the 166th-best overall player, 19th-best cornerback and 19th-best player in Florida, per the 247Sports composite.
Gaylord is currently predicted to commit to the Huskies, per 247Sports' Crystal Ball projections. On3 Sports has UW with an 80.9% chance to land him.
