Kevin Cummings was recognized as one of the top 10 recruiters in the country by 247Sports
The Washington Huskies football team is putting together one of the best classes in the nation for the 2027 recruiting cycle.
The Huskies recently earned two commitments from a pair of four-star wide receivers this past week: Tre Moore and Dontay Tyson Jr.
Washington's '27 recruiting class currently ranks 17th in the country per 247Sports and is comprised of 17 total commitments.
A big boon to the Huskies' recruiting class' overall rankings has been the growing wide receiver room, including Moore, Tyson, three-star wide receiver Braylon Pope and four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney.
The coach that has been at the forefront of the recruitment for those four pass-catchers, Washington wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings, has recently been recognized as one of the best recruiters in the nation.
According to 247Sports' rankings, Cumming is currently ranked as the eighth-best recruiter in the country for the '27 class.
The seven coached ranked ahead of Cumming in the rankings are: Texas A&M defensive line coach Tony Jerod-Eddie; Florida offensive line coach Phil Trautwein; Oho State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen; Miami cornerbacks coach Terry Jefferson; Nebraska secondary coach Addison Williams; Penn State associate head coach Terry Smith and Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing.
Cummings has been a member of UW head coach's Jedd Fisch's coaching staff since the latter of the two had the same job with the Arizona Wildcats from 2021-23. Cummings was also the wide receiver coach with the Wildcats.
Cummings success on the recruiting trail dates back before this current recruiting cycle. Cumming helped flip four-star Class of 2026 wide receiver Jordan Clay from the Baylor Bears to the Huskies.
In addition to Clay, Cummings also landed four-star wide receivers Trez Davis and Mason James and three-star wide receiver Blaise LaVista in the '26 class.
Cummings also led the recruitment of four-star pass-catcher Chris Lawson and three-stars Marcus Harris, Deji Ajose, Dezmen Roebuck and Raiden Vines-Bright in the 2025 recruiting class.
Roebuck is set to be the team's No. 1 receiver target next season and was one of the highlight performers of spring training. Lawson and Clay are both candidates to win the team's remaining starting outside receiver position for next season.
Cummings' recruiting profile dates back to his time with Fisch at Arizona, as well.
Cummings recruited Tetairoa McMillan, who played with the Wildcats from 2022-24. McMillan was picked in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers and won Offensive Rookie of the Year this past season.
The former Oregon State wide receiver could land another pass-catcher in the '27 recruiting class, as well.
Cumming and Fisch hosted four-star wide receiver Osani Gayles this past weekend for an official visit. Gayles is ranked as the 48th-best overall player, eighth-best wide receiver and sixth-best player in Florida per the 247Sports composite.
Gayles has Washington, Alabama, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Stanford as his five finalists.
