Despite being in prime territory to make an impression on potential recruits, the Huskies won't be able to officially host any potential future players

The Washington football team will have an opportunity to end its season on a strong note as the Huskies will play the Boise State Broncos in the Los Angeles Bowl at 5 p.m. PT on Dec. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

Washington will be focused on taking down Boise State to earn its fourth nine-plus win season in five years.

And while the chance to win a game in the present is always good, the game should also help the Huskies in the recruiting hot-bed of Southern California, which impacts the future.

However, that won't be the case, at least not fully.

According to a report from Seattle Times reporter Andy Yamashita, Washington won't be able to officially host recruits at the L.A. Bowl against the Broncos.

There is currently a nation-wide "dead period" in recruiting, which began Dec. 1. According to Yamashita's report, programs are not allowed to contact recruits in person either on or off campus until the dead period ends Jan. 1.

This means that any players from the L.A. area or otherwise who are interested in the Huskies aren't allowed to be invited and will have to purchase tickets to the game if they hope to get an in-person look at their potential collegiate suitors.

“All those kids from Southern California can see the type of program you can go to,” Fisch said in  Yamashita's article. “We have a ton of players from the state of California. Some of the best players in the country chose to come here either this year, or last, or the year before, from Southern California. So I’m hopeful that the fact we’re playing in L.A. will really help us market our program even more.”

Many of Washington's solid '26 class hail from varying parts of California. Seven of the team's 25 signings from the '26 class hail from the Golden State. The Huskies have also offered several players in the 2027 class who are from California, including three-star quarterbacks Caden Jones, Dane Weber, Daniel Mielke, Chance Thomas and Luke Farrell.

Washington has already put together one of the best 2026 recruiting classes in the nation. Its '26 class ranks 12th in the nation according to 247Sports, which is the highest-ranked class in program history and fifth in the Big Ten behind USC, Oregon, Ohio State and Michigan.

A win against Boise State would mark Washington's fourth bowl win in their last five berths, including Alamo and Sugar Bowl appearances the 2023-24 College Football Playoff.
