The Washington Huskies men's basketball team will have an eventful week in front of them.
The Huskies are 2-1 after a 78-69 loss against the Baylor Bears on Nov. 9. Washington will look to bounce back in a contest against its in-state rivals, the Washington State Cougars, at 8 p.m. PT on Friday at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman, Wash.
Washington entered the season with an almost completely retooled roster. Thirteen of the 15 players on the roster were new to the program.
The Huskies haven't played at full strength the whole year. Senior guard Desmond Claude, who transferred to Washington after one season at Southern California (USC), hasn't played a game this season due to an ankle injury.
According to a recent report, the Huskies will also be without one of their best perimeter threats for the next several weeks.
According to a post on "X" from CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein), sophomore forward Bryson Tucker will be out two-to-three weeks with an ankle injury.
Tucker transferred to to Washington after spending his freshman season in Indiana.
Across the Huskies' first three games of the season, Tucker has averaged 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He's shot 46.2 percent from the floor and 41.7% from 3-point range.
Tucker is second on the team in 3-point makes (five), behind only senior guard Quimari Peterson (eight).
Tucker is also first on the team in 3-point percentage among players who've attempted more than one triple. Peterson is second (33.3% from beyond the arc).
Tucker is fifth on the team in points per game and second in rebounds per game. Freshman forward Hannes Steinbach leads the team in boards (12.7 per game).
Having Tucker out is a huge loss for a Washington team that is already struggling for health. He has been in the team's starting five in all three games this season.
Based on the two-to-three-week timeline, Tucker's return would line up with the Huskies' first Big Ten games of the season.
Washington will begin Big Ten play against UCLA at 8 p.m. PT on Dec. 3 at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, then will play USC at 3 p.m. PT on Dec. 6 in Los Angeles.
The Huskies will have four more non-conference games following their showdowns against their California-based rivals before starting their conference slate.
Washington will launch into its Big Ten schedule against Tucker's former team, Indiana, at 5 p.m. PT on Jan. 4 in Bloomington, Ind.
