Amayah Garcia, a four-star guard, will join the Huskies in 2026

The No. 25 Washington Huskies women's basketball team had one of the best recruiting classes in program history this past offseason.

The Huskies landed five-star forward Brynn McGaughy, who was the highest-rated recruit in program history. Washington also landed notable international recruits, guard Sienna Harvey and forward Daniella McLean, out of Australia and Canada, respectively.

The Huskies and head coach Tina Langley have continued their recruiting victories and landed another highly-touted recruit for the 2026 class.

Four-star combo guard Amayah Garcia committed to Washington, and the team made a post on "X" announcing her commitment to the program.

Garcia, who attended Faith Family Academy of Oak Cliff in Dallas, is ranked as the No. 43 player in the country, fifth-best player in Texas and No. 10-ranked small forward in the country according to 247Sports.

Garcia picked the Huskies over several Power Four and Big Ten opponents, marking another high-end recruiting win for the team.

Garcia had offers from Ole Miss, Alabama, Texas Tech, Arizona, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Florida State, Boston College, TCU, UCLA, North Carolina, Oregon, Baylor, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Indiana, North Carolina State, Illinois, Marquette and Kansas and others.

Garcia marks the fourth four-star (or better) recruit for Washington in the last two seasons.

Last year, in the program's fourth season under Langley, the Huskies made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017. Washington was one of the first four teams eliminated in the last NCAA Tournament.

There's healthy expectations around the franchise that Washington will be able to return to and exceed that point this season.

The Huskies are 2-0 on the season after a 90-43 win against Seattle University and an 87-56 win against Montana, respectively.

After Washington's win against Seattle U, the team earned its first Associated Press (AP) Top 25 ranking of the season and was placed No. 25 in the latest poll.

The Huskies have been able to reach that point this season without senior guard and all-conference player Elle Ladine, who's still day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.

Washington will next be in action against the Utah Utes at 1 p.m. PT on Nov. 15 in Salt Lake City.
