The sophomore signal-caller will be without his top target, wide receiver Denzel Boston, against the Bruins

The 7-3 Washington Huskies had one of their most dominant wins of the season against the Purdue Boilermakers on Nov. 15.

The Huskies won 49-13 and earned a critical bounce back after a disappointing 13-10 loss against the Wisconsin Badgers the week before. The loss to Wisconsin effectively ended any chance Washington had at making the College Football Playoffs.

The Huskies were able to flush the disappointment of the loss against the Badgers, but the effects of that game will continue to reverberate into this weekend.

Washington will play the UCLA Bruins at 7:30 p.m. PT on Nov. 22 at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. And the Huskies will be without their top pass-catcher.

Junior wide receiver Denzel Boston, who suffered an injury against Wisconsin that kept him out against Purdue, is a "stretch" to play against UCLA, according to head coach Jedd Fisch.

Boston has caught 52 passes this season for a team-high 730 yards and eight touchdowns.

It's a disappointing update for Washington, who will also be without freshman wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright, who's in concussion protocol after he was knocked unconscious in the second quarter against the Boilermakers.

Vines-Bright has reeled in 22 passes for 226 yards this year.

It will also be interesting to see how this affects Huskies sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr.

Williams will be without his top pass-catcher for the second game in a row and it will be interesting to see how that impacts the second-year signal caller.

Williams was able to navigate Purdue's defense efficiently Nov. 15. He went 16-for-19 for 257 yards and two touchdowns and rushed seven times for 23 yards. He had his second-highest single-game passer rating of the season (232.6) and fifth-highest single-game quarterback rating (86.1).

But Williams will face a significantly better pass defense in the the Bruins than he did against the Boilermakers.

Purdue ranks 17th in the 18-team Big Ten conference in pass defense (246.1 yards a game allowed) whereas UCLA ranks seventh (188.8).

The Bruins are yet to allow a quarterback to throw for more than 225 yards in a single game this season.

Williams will get a boost in the offense with the potential return of senior running back Jonah Coleman.

Fisch said in a news conference Thursday that he's "confident" Coleman will play against UCLA, but added the caveat that he felt the same for the game against Purdue.

Coleman and Williams both have two respective Big Ten Player of the Week awards this season.
