The Buffalo Bills offense got a lot more exciting with the addition of an electric wide receiver from the Bears.

There was thought that the Buffalo Bills might try to bring back former receiver Stefon Diggs as a target for quarterback Josh Allen, but they swung a different direction on Thursday in a major trade. The Bills acquired wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that the Bears also sent over a 2026 fifth rounder, in exchange for Buffalo’s 2026 second-round pick. Moore immediately elevates the wide receiver room and becomes Allen’s WR1 for next year, as well as alleviates pressure off Khalil Shakur. It’s a move that reunites Allen with his former offensive coordinator.

Moore was on the Carolina Panthers when new Bills head coach Joe Brady was the team’s offensive coordinator from 2020 to most of the 2021 season. Those were also two of Moore’s most prolific seasons in the league. He recorded over 1,100 receiving yards in both seasons and averaged a career-high 18.1 yards per catch in 2020, bringing an explosive, downfield element to Buffalo’s offense.

The Bills will guarantee $15.5 million of Moore’s $23.5 base salary in 2028, while his $23.5 base salary in 2026 is fully guaranteed, and his 2027 base salary, also that same number, will become fully guaranteed next week. And technically, the trade can’t be officially processed until the start of the new league year next Wednesday. But it makes Buffalo’s offense immediately more exciting and lets the Bills turn their attention to some run stopping on defense.
