Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has a Grade 2 hamstring injury, according to reports. Find out what this means for Williams' timeline to return.

Bears fans just got some more news about Caleb Williams' hamstring injury.

Accoridng to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears' starting quarterback "has a Grade 2 hamstring injury that doctors consider a three-to-four-week injury."

Williams injured his hamstring with 7:42 left in the fourth quarter in the Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field. Williams needed assistance going to the blue medical tent and was later carted off to the locker room.

The Bears ruled out Williams for the Week 3 Monday night matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the question remains, when will Williams return? Bears head coach Ben Johnson discussed Williams injury on Monday with reporters and called it "somewhat encouraging" and officially labeled him as "week to week."

"Here's what I know," Johnson said on Monday. "This guy's a little bit different than the average human being. I said that last night, I'll double down on that. He gets back -- he has in the past -- a lot faster than what people can anticipate, and so I'm not putting a timeline on this. We're going to say week-to-week. He's going to attack this with everything that he knows."

Williams started 38 straight games for the Bears (including the playoffs), but that streak will officially come to an end on Monday night. Here is a look at Chicago's schedule and the games Williams could potentially miss.

  • 9/28 vs Eagles
  • 10/4 vs. Jets
  • 10/11 @ Packers
  • 10/18 @ Falcons

The road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons would be towards the end of Williams' potential timeline. In this four-game stretch, the Bears play three NFC opponents, including the road game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears are 0-1 in the NFC North North so far, but the team did start 0-2 in the division last season and still ended up clinching with an 11-6 record.

With Williams out and recovering from injury, the Bears need to still figure out who will be starting at quarterback for Monday night's game. Tyson Bagent is still in concussion protocol and is questionable for the game after being a full participant in Saturday's practice.

Third-string quarterback Case Keenum has been preparing throughout this week, receiving first-team reps. The 38-year-old quarterback last started a game on Christmas Eve of the 2023 season.

The Bears are being tested early in 2026, but Johnson's team must navigate the injuries at quarterback to keep their postseason aspiration intact.
