Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams finally gave his side of the story on his intentions to trademark the 'Iceman' nickname in a recent interview he did with Front Office Sports. Find out what the Bears' quarterback had to say on the matter.

Caleb Williams didn't have any bad intentions when he filed to trademark the nickname 'Iceman.' The 24-year-old Chicago Bears quarterback didn't know that Hall-of-Fame basketball player George Gervin also used to go by that moniker.

Front Office Sports released an interview with Williams on Friday, and the Bears' signal caller shared his side of the story about the intentions to trademark his nickname, 'Iceman.'

"It's funny because I didn't know," Williams said. "My dad probably knows his nickname was that, but it's not between me and George or anything like that, it's more or less people making clothing or people making things like that. And I can't control what people are making of me or anything like that and putting the name on it. So, it's just to control that aspect of it. That was the main reason of doing it."

Scroll through social media, and you will find some kind of Williams T-shirt with a silhouette of him throwing off-platform with the words 'Iceman.' It shouldn't take long to find.

Williams mentioned that he didn't know Gervin went by the nickname as well. Gervin played 14 years of professional basketball. Over the course of his career, he was a nin-time NBA All-Star, a seven-time All-NBA selection and a four-time scoring champion.

Gervin's last year in the NBA was the 1985-86 season, a year Bears fans know all too well. Williams wasn't born until 2001.

The Bears' quarterback also shared that he wasn't the biggest fan of the nickname to start and thought there were cooler ones. However, after his teammates gave him the name and started calling Williams it around Halas Hall, the Bears' facility, he embraced 'Iceman."

And to be fair, so did the NFL.

"I've actually earned a liking of the name," Williams said. "So, I wanted to trademark it. I've been trying to do that just to make sure, like I said, that we can control what is being made and put out about me. ..."

Williams also feels the nickname fits, considering Chicago is "frigid for many, many months out of the year," according to the Bears' quarterback.

In the interview with Front Office Sports, Williams said that he hasn't spoke to Gervin yet, but that could be something that happens in the future.

Before Williams entered the NFL, he has had a passion for the business and has invested in that particular industry. Williams feels strongly about the trademark on the 'Iceman' nickname, so he can gain some control to prevent others from profiting off his image.
