Could the Atlanta Falcons trade for Cleveland Browns WR Cedric Tillman?
NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report believes Cleveland Browns WR Cedric Tillman is "expendable."
Cleveland has a crowded WR room, so Tillman may be better suited to play somewhere else.
The Browns' WR room is made up of Tillman, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston, Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond, Luke Floriea and Gage Larvadain. Moton wonders if the Falcons, led by former Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski, could be interested in trading for Tillman.
"Entering his fourth season, Cedric Tillman is expendable in Cleveland," Moton wrote. "The Browns have a lead veteran receiver and high-upside young talent behind him on the depth chart, which leaves little room for Tillman to contribute on a week-to-week basis. While he's shown flashes here and there, the 26-year-old has missed 13 games because of injuries.
"Perhaps former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski will make a call to reunite with Tillman in Atlanta. Underwhelming 2022 first-rounder Jahan Dotson is trying to lock down the Falcons' No. 2 receiver spot."
In 13 games for the Browns last season, Tillman had 21 receptions for 270 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. He's been with Cleveland since 2023.
Tillman enters next season with 71 receptions for 833 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.
The Browns play the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts this season. That's a pretty tough schedule.
Cleveland traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. Jared Verse is a good player, but he's not an all-world talent like Garrett.
As a result, Cleveland's defense will take a step back in 2026.
The Browns' offense will likely be putrid this season as well. Shedeur Sanders or Deshaun Watson will be the starting QB and both guys are below-average QBs.
Sanders finished his rookie season with 1,400 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 169 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. He went 3-4 as a starter.
Meanwhile, Watson didn't play last season. He was recovering from the Achilles tear he suffered during the 2024 season.
Since making his Browns debut, Watson has posted a 33.1 Total QBR, the lowest among qualified passers. The odds of the former Houston Texans star turning back the clock after an Achilles tear are pretty low, which is why many NFL pundits believe Cleveland should start Shedeur so the team can fully evaluate him for an entire season.
