Tyreek Hill's injury recovery and contractual situation make Kansas City the ideal reunion spot. Familiar faces and an undeniable need await.

The Miami Dolphins' flurry of moves this offseason included the release of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Whether or not Hill is able to play in 2026 remains to be seen as he recovers from a gruesome knee injury.

Once Hill became a free agent, the Kansas City Chiefs emerged as an obvious fit, especially with their need for a WR, Eric Bieniemy returning to KC as the offensive coordinator, and Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce still there.

Reid did say that nothing was happening, but they know Hill is out there as he recovers from his injury.

Then, a report surfaced that the Chiefs are going to "monitor the progress" of Hill's recovery, so that could change their feelings on bringing him back to Kansas City in what would be a neat reunion.

With NFL free agency slowing down after a wild few days, USA Today's Tyler Dragon named the best fits for some remaining free agents, and he had Hill going to the Chiefs.

"Kansas City defensive lineman Chris Jones is already publicly recruiting Hill. A Hill and Chiefs reunion makes a ton of sense. The Chiefs haven’t adequately filled Hill’s void since they traded him, and Kansas City would provide Hill a comfortable and familiar place to rehab his knee injury and revitalize the back half of his career," Dragon wrote.

The Chiefs saw Hollywood Brown sign a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, and although Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are coming back, there is still a need for a top-end wide receiver such as Hill.

Now, Hill is getting older, recovering from a serious knee injury, and there is a chance he sits out most or all of the 2026 season, so this is likely a play for the postseason or the 2027 season.

The good news is that the Chiefs know Hill very well, and he would likely accept a cheaper deal since he is coming off an injury and got a massive payday from the Dolphins after being traded initially years ago.

It remains to be seen what the market looks like for Hill and whether or not teams want to sign him given all of the circumstances, so it could be a while before he comes to an agreement with a new team.

At the end of the day, the Chiefs make the most sense due to their connection in all those matters, and it could be. aneat story to follow if he returns to catching passes from Mahomes.
