The Kansas City Chiefs' training camp is underway, and one of the larger storylines thus far has been quarterback Patrick Mahomes' involvement.

For anyone who missed it, offensive coach Eric Bieniemy's wife was shot in their home by their son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, on Sunday evening.
Our hosts, Golden J and Chico, along with all Chiefs fans, are at a loss for words. The heartbreaking news was an awful way to kick off the season, and thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.
Moving on to some lighter news, last week the Chiefs released a rendering of the new stadium coming in 2031. Our hosts dive into some of the specifics regarding seating, specifications and expectations for the new stadium.
On some news coming out of training camp, Golden J segways the conversation into great news regarding quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The QB was seen on the field as a full participant, throwing passes to his teammates despite tearing his ACL and LCL in December of 2025. His recovery timeline has shocked the football world, and Mahomes is on pace to play in Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL season. The 30-year-old was still in a brace, however, likely to prevent any further damage to his leg.
The duo speculates on what Mahomes' involvement in the preseason could look like and anticipates the two-time MVP taking just a few snaps across the three preseason games for Kansas City. While discussing those games, Golden J thinks newly acquired QB Justin Fields will take the majority of snaps.
There's also been excitement surrounding rookie wide receiver Cyrus Allen, who was Kansas City's round five pick out of Cincinnati.
Looking ahead to the preseason, Chico brings up some important dates to keep in mind. Saturday, Aug. 15, the Chiefs host the Los Angeles Rams for the first preseason game of the year, followed by a trip to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, Aug. 22. Then the third and final bout will be against the defending Super Bowl Champions at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday, Aug. 28.
The showdown against the Seahawks will be an interesting game to watch, as Kansas City's newly acquired running back, Kenneth Walker, will face his old team.
As for the remainder of training camp news, the duo is eager to see how this first week goes and dive into the discussions on who could make the 53-man roster.
