INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts have cut ties with one of their original starting defenders from this season, linebacker Joe Bachie.

The Colts waived Bachie from Injured Reserve with an injury settlement after he was placed on IR with a foot/toe injury last week.

In Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, Bachie had a rough outing. He allowed a big pass play in coverage early, and then was called for a holding penalty that wiped out a kickoff return touchdown for the Colts. He was also later simultaneously called for a facemask and tripping penalties on the same play while attempting to tackle Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty.

Bachie was fined $6,500 for the tripping infraction and placed on IR in the week following the game.

The sixth-year pro signed a $1.17 million contract with the Colts this offseason as a free agent to reunite with Lou Anarumo, who was his defensive coordinator with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2021-24 before Anarumo was hired for the same role with the Colts this offseason.

Bachie started each of the first five games, totaling 26 tackles and a pass breakup. He also played 68 snaps on special teams, totaling four tackles.

With Bachie now completely off the team, the Colts have Zaire Franklin, Germaine Pratt, Austin Ajiake, Chad Muma, Segun Olubi, and Buddy Johnson at linebacker.
