The Indianapolis Colts must officially cut their roster from 90 players to 53 by the 6:00 p.m. ET deadline on Sunday. While the team will announce its moves as a whole later in the day, news of individual cuts will begin to trickle in ahead of time.

In the coming days, teams will then begin signing players to their 16-man practice squads.

—RB Ulysses Bentley IV (Rapoport). This is another bit of a surprise, as Bentley comfortably outplayed DJ Giddens, but Giddens' status as a former fifth-round draft pick wins out.

—RB Anderson Castle (Erickson).

—WR Anthony Gould. The Colts' primary kickoff and punt returner for the last two years will now be replaced.

—WR Ben Nikkel (Erickson). The Colts consider Nikkel, the former safety, a jack-of-all-trades for their scout team, so don't be surprised to see him land back on the practice squad.

—WR Eli Pancol (Erickson). Pancol spent time on the Colts' practice squad last season and even saw some occasional first-team reps during training camp with injured players ahead of him.

—WR Raylen Sharpe (Erickson). Sharpe was a fixture throughout training camp with the third-team offense as a slot receiver. He also received quite a bit of work as a kickoff and punt returner. Erickson indicated that Sharpe is a possibility for the practice squad.

—WR Sahmir Hagans (Erickson).

—TE Tyler Moore (Erickson).

—TE JJ Galbreath.

—OT Blake Freeland. Freeland started 9-of-25 career games in his first two years before missing last season with a broken ankle.

—OT Nolan Rucci (Nathan Brown/The Indianapolis Star). Rucci is a solid option for the practice squad, given the fragility of the team's offensive tackle depth.

—OT Trey Wedig (Joel Erickson/The Indianapolis Star). Wedig was a late camp signee for the Colts after injuries to offensive tackle Luke Tenuta and Nolan Rucci left them shorthanded.

—OT Roy Mbaeteka. Mbaeteka may get the Colts' International Player Pathway designation on the practice squad, affording them an extra, protected spot.

—IOL Jimmy Morrissey (Jeremy Fowler/ESPN). Morrissey was one of the primary candidates to be the Colts' new backup center, but that became moot after they traded for Pran-Graner.

—Geno VanDeMark.

—IOL Josh Kreutz. The son of six-time Pro Bowler Olin Kreutz needs a bit more time to marinate, perhaps on the practice squad. He had a very boom-or-bust preseason.

—DE Durell Nchami (Erickson). Nchami spent last year on the Colts' practice squad and was activated for a few games.

—DE Mitchell Melton.  

—DT Colby Wooden (Ian Rapoport/NFL Network). This is the first shocker we've seen. The Colts traded longtime starting linebacker Zaire Franklin to the Green Bay Packers for Wooden this offseason.  

—DT Cam Ball (Brown). Ball is a practice squad candidate, should he clear waivers.

—LB West Weeks. The Colts had high hopes when they signed Weeks as an undrafted free agent, so perhaps he makes the practice squad.

—LB Devin Veresuk (Erickson). 

—CB Rob Carter Jr.

—CB Kenneth Harris (Erickson). Harris is a practice squad candidate who was signed late in camp.

—CB Mekhi Rodgers (Erickson).

—S Trey Washington (Erickson). Washington is a likely practice squad candidate and made a compelling case for the 53-man roster through defensive playmaking in the back end, and on special teams. He forced a fumble on Saturday in the preseason finale.

—S Daniel Scott. Scott made it through training camp healthy but spent most of the last three years dealing with knee injuries and an Achilles.

—S Austin Brown (Erickson).

  —K Blake Grupe (Mike Garafolo/NFL Network). Grupe outperformed Spencer Shrader during spring and summer practices, making about 90% of his kicks compared to just under 70% for Shrader, but Shrader was perfect in the preseason, including a pair of field goals from 60-plus yards. Grupe was just 2-of-4.  

—QB Easton Stick (Erickson). Stick saw very few reps during the summer, outside of the occasional "developmental team" 11-on-11 or 7-on-7 series. He finally played in the Colts' final preseason game throughout the second half.

—WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. Westbrook-Ikhine was once thought to be a serious contender for the Colts' WR3 role, but then it became clear that Ashton Dulin had it on lock, and the Colts had a clear preference for Laquon Treadwell behind Dulin.

—TE Pharaoh Brown (Erickson. The Colts plan to bring Brown back on the practice squad.

—OL Josh Sills. The Colts believe Sills has five-position flexibility across the line. He could fill one of their veteran practice squad spots.

—DT Derrick Nnadi.

—S Juanyeh Thomas. Thomas turned down more money from other suitors in free agency to come to Indianapolis, but he never really caught on, hardly ever receiving more than third-team and developmental team reps in practice.

—TE Will Mallory placed on Injured Reserve (designated to return).

—WR D.J. Montgomery placed on Injured Reserve.

—WR Coleman Owen placed on Injured Reserve.

—The Colts have traded a 2027 sixth-round draft pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for C Sedrick Van Pran-Granger and a 2027 seventh-round pick. (Tom Pelissero/The Ringer). The Colts lost backup center Danny Pinter in free agency, and they've since struggled to replace him. Primary option Dalton Tucker had issues throughout the offseason with errant shotgun snaps.

—WR Keenan Allen was arrested on Saturday night on two misdemeanor OWI charges. He could face a suspension from the NFL of up to three games.

—Aug. 7: CB Cam Taylor-Britt will be suspended for Week 1 of the regular season for violating the league's personal conduct policy, stemming from a traffic arrest in 2025 while he was with the Cincinnati Bengals.
