The Washington Commanders have added a playmaker to the wide receiver room on day two of the 2026 NFL Draft
After adding an impact piece to the defense on day one in linebacker Sonny Styles, the Washington Commanders have finally addressed the top of the wide receiver room.
Former Clemson wide receiver Antonio Williams is headed to DC with the Commanders selecting him with the 71st overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Williams, a 5-foot-11.5, 187 pound wide receiver, becomes the much needed addition to the unit that head coach Dan Quinn and offensive coordinator David Blough have looked for this offseason after striking out in free agency.
A former four star recruit, Williams was limited to just five games in 2023, yet remained a consistent contributor in the Tigers passing attack during his four seasons. Williams registered at least 50 catches in three of his four seasons, including exactly 604 receiving yards and four touchdowns as both a freshman and senior.
He began his career as a freshman All American and honorable mention All ACC selection while also adding 8.6 yards per punt return.
His most productive season came in 2024 when Williams registered 904 receiving yards for 11 touchdowns on 75 catches, notching career highs in each category en route to being named a first team All ACC selection.
Williams ended his time with the Tigers as a third team All ACC selection after starting in ten games.
The Clemson product now heads to the Commanders adding value as a likely slot receiver with a chance for Terry McLaurin to remain the primary target as Blough noted he hopes the veteran draws ten targets per game during the upcoming 2026 regular season.
Williams becomes the latest addition after the Commanders previously added to the wide receiver room this offseason after signing Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson in free agency, while general manager Adam Peters elected to re-sign Treylon Burks after the former first round pick flashed in his first season with the team. Whether it becomes the final addition in the wide receiver room remains a question mark with the San Francisco 49ers still holding out hope for draft capital in exchange for Brandon Aiyuk into Saturday's draft.
This marks the lone selection for the Commanders on day two as he joins Styles as the team's pair of top 100 draft picks this offseason. Peters and head coach Dan Quinn will now have four picks to work with on day three starting with two in round five.
