The Washington Commanders saw a mix of news with two players present but not participating during the third week of OTAs

The Washington Commanders have now officially wrapped up week two of OTAs with the third and final round set to kick off next Tuesday, June 9 ahead of mandatory minicamp beginning exactly one week later.

Each week, it marks a chance for Washington to ramp up offseason installs on both sides of the ball, but there was a mix of good and bad news on the injury front.

The good news is cornerback Trey Amos was officially back out on the field with his teammates once again, though he was not participating after being seen in a hat while on the field during stretching and early drills. Yet it's an encouraging sign for the second year cornerback, especially at a position where the Commanders have also been questioned for doing enough this offseason.

The former second-round pick out of Ole Miss played in ten games and started in eight in 2025 where he proved to be a strong boundary cornerback before suffering a fractured fibula in the week ten loss against the Seattle Seahawks, capping off a frustrating end to a promising season.

Washington is not required to announce injury designations at this point in the offseason, meaning an official update on where Amos is in the recovery process still remains unclear,.

ut it marks the latest encouraging sign after Amos provided encouragement on his recovery during an Instagram live earlier this offseason.

Veteran Antonio Hamilton, who was among the players to re-sign with the organization this offseason, could be the one to step into an elevated role until Amos returns to full strength while the front office elected to sign a pair of veterans in free agency in Amik Robertson and Akhello Witherspoon.

While the sight of Amos added encouragement, one who was present but not participating was running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Like Amos, Washington isn't obligated to provide an update on the former seventh round pick, but it was somewhat of a surprise ahead of a likely elevated role within the offense.

Head coach Dan Quinn noted that the "passing game and on the return side" are two areas of growth for Croskey-Merritt to grow into in David Blough's offense as fans look to see how much his workload changes over the next month with little concern - for now. Croskey-Merritt was also in attendance but did not participate during the first round of OTAs, making his participation during the third week a potential minor storyline to watch.
