With the Cowboys now having five weeks before training camp begins, this is the time of the offseason that has franchises nervous when it comes to their players staying out of trouble.

The Dallas Cowboys, like every other NFL team, will be a little nervous over the next month as the franchise won't be able to keep an eye on their players.

Often, it is a time for family, travel, and relaxation as players get recharged for what will be a grueling training camp.

However, for some, this is often a troubled time, as they get on the wrong side of the law, and things can get a little messy. Or problems arise that bring unwanted attention to the player and team.

As our Mike Fisher said, more urging caution than being sarcastic: "We're talking about millionaires in their 20's who have been guided along in how to behave since they were discovered at age 8 to 'be special.' And now they have four or five weeks of unsupervised free time?

"What could go wrong?''

Well, plenty.

This time of the year comes with a lot of trepidation from coaches and staff as the players are "on their own," as such, without the day-to-day structure of meetings, practices, and everything in between.

But surely the Cowboys, like other teams, have a plan to make sure that they don't get a dreaded phone call, right?

"We have two rules," head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. "The first one's be on time. Second one is always protect the team. That's an easy way of saying, make good decisions, be smart, think before you go out, before you travel, before you pack your bag and head to the airport. Just know what you're putting in your bag. I think that's all real.

"Just making good decisions. So, protect the team. We're going to need everybody to go where we're going this year and to chase the championship that we want to chase and win so badly. So, they have to think about their teammates, their brothers, before they think about themselves."

So, there are protocols in place, and Schottenheimer wants his players to always think of the team over the next five weeks, no matter what they do.

It's been a drama-free offseason for Dallas, and the franchise will want it to continue.

No unwanted headlines. No players getting in trouble or doing anything that could jeopardize their 2026 season.

Of course, these players are adults, so there shouldn't be too much worry, but incidents still happen.

And the Cowboys are doing their best to make sure this offseason stays drama-free at a time of the year when the chance of drama is at its highest.
