It appears the Cowboys aren't putting any limits on how good the offense can be in 2026.
We know that the Dallas Cowboys' offense is the straw that stirs the team's drink, and after a season that saw the unit, led by Dak Prescott, be one of the best in football, what 2026 has in store is exciting.
George Pickens is back, so too Javonte Williams and the entire starting five offensive linemen as well.
Oh, and it is Brian Schottenheimer's second year as head coach/play-caller, Klayton Adams and Conor Riley are also back for another season, so continuity is everywhere.
And for most, that means that the Cowboys, in theory, should be as good, if not better, than what they were last season.
Granted, there isn't an exact number you can put on it, but the Cowboys did score 27.7 points per game last season, so they were prolific, even with touchdown issues in the second halves of games.
But for Pickens, this group isn't about to put a ceiling on what they can be this upcoming season.
"That's the thing, the limitations and the nuance of a limitation, you shouldn't put that on yourself," Pickens said. "You can really do anything you want. I feel like as an offense, that's one thing and one mindset that we have. Just trying to be through the roof."
To be better than what they were last season, that takes time, and we know Schottenheimer has spoken at length of the need to "evolve" as an offense, and coming up against Christian Parker's defense is a good place to start.
We know Dak has spoken about how hard the unit is making it on him. CeeDee Lamb called going against them annoying, but that was in minicamp.
Oxnard is a little different.
But how has Pickens seen Parker's scheme in the first couple of days of camp?
"We've got a new defensive coordinator, so the scheme's a little different, but the player and his tendencies can be the exact same," Pickens said. "Just starting to watch what he does, if he repeats the same thing that he did the year before that or he's the same guy since college, so that's going to always be in that person. But the scheme is definitely new and improved."
With the defense under Parker a big reason for the offseason optimism, if it can be anything close to what some are projecting, coupled with what we think the offense can be, 2026 could be a fun ride.
Of course, right now, the sun is shining, and everyone looks like a Pro Bowler. Adversity hasn't hit yet.
And when it does, for either side of the ball, then we'll get a true indication of what this team could become.
