FRISCO - Shortly after Monday's "exit interviews'' with players here inside The Star, the 2026 roster of the Dallas Cowboys - or at least, the training camp roster - began to take shape.
This isn't "big-money'' free agency and this isn't headline-grabbing news in the eyes of "the nationals and the casuals.'' But the Cowboys think they have some worthy keepers on the practice squad, and they've made a total of nine transactions in that area.
Re-signing with Dallas with futures contracts are ...
RB Israel Abanikanda
DB Zion Childress
WR Traeshon Holden
OT Marcellus Johnson
DE Isaiah Land
DE Adedayo Odeleye
DB Julius Wood
add to
WR Parris Campbell
OL Nick Leverett
The biggest name in that group? That would be Parris Campbell, the former second-round pick who once helped the Philadelphia Eagles win a Super Bowl.
But to Cowboys Nation, the biggest potential name now locked into the offseason 90-man roster?
That would be Traeshon Holden, the wide receiver who arrived in camp last spring and who made an impression with his walk ... and with his talk.
Semi-famously, he said of joining the Cowboys at minicamp that he would "prove everybody wrong. Everybody. I'm coming for heads. That's it."
It didn't quite happen that way for the Oregon product, who was disappointed that he wasn't drafted following a two-year stint with the Ducks that saw him make 82 receptions for 1,170 yards and 11 touchdowns.
But at 6-3, 205? There is enough here physically for all involved to give it another shot.
Again, no, this isn't headline free agency on the lines of George Pickens, Brandon Aubrey, Javonte Williams and Jadeveon Clowney, who are among Dallas' list of 22 pending free agents.
But it's a big deal to the nine guys who now figure to join the 90 ... as Holden gets another chance to go "headhunting'' in Dallas.
