The Dallas Cowboys know what CeeDee Lamb is to them as an offensive weapon, and No. 88's drops in the 24-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday were therefore less than ideal.
And now, also arguably less than ideal: Dallas - clearly trying to pump up Lamb's self-confidence - is taking the unusual step of revealing its CeeDee-centric game plan for this week.
Now, this isn't the first time CeeDee has had a case of the drops, but the Cowboys insist that each time he has let himself down in that aspect, he's roared back with authority the following week.
And considering the Kansas City Chiefs are coming to AT&T Stadium for Thanksgiving? A "roar-back'' would be helpful. Because if there is a bunch against whom you can't afford to make those sorts of mistakes it's Kansas City and coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's defense.
Just four receptions from 11 targets against Philadelphia? Lamb had his chances, including a would-be go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, but it was dropped - one of his three butter-finger plays on the day.
And as the Cowboys gear up for a season-defining game against the Chiefs, head coach/offensive play-caller Brian Schottenheimer unveiled the fact that No. 88 will be featured heavily on Thursday.
“He has that look in his eye," Schotty said. "He means all business. Might be letting the cat out of the bag, but expect a lot of balls to go 88’s way on Thursday.”
Even with Lamb having several drops, Dak Prescott still looked his way often, as evidenced by 11 targets, and that was despite George Pickens' alien-like performance as he hauled in nine catches for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Pickens is talking about taking “momentum’’ from the win over Philly. For Lamb, it's more about forgetting Philly.
So, Dak didn't shy away from Lamb despite him clearly struggling.
And you can nearly bet your house that on Dallas' first offensive drive against the Chiefs, Lamb will get a nice easy completion to get him in a groove. It's written in the stars.
Also, Schotty just told us Lamb will be getting targets.
Said CeeDee of the issues: “Just find ways to get better, you want to be solution-oriented and not really dwell on the problem. Granted, we know the problem - I need to catch the (expletive) ball.''
The Cowboys face another must-win game in Week 13, and Lamb is entering the game knowing that if his team is to make it to above .500 for the first time this season, he must catch the football.
The Cowboys will bet he does so ... and we'll almost guarantee he'll get plenty of chances.
