Fresh off securing a $6 million extension, the former sixth-round pick embraces his new WR3 role while signaling a defiant offensive turnaround for Dallas’ international clash.
It has been some offseason for Dallas Cowboys receiver Ryan Flournoy, and one he won't forget any time soon.
From being elevated to WR3 after showcasing his skills last season, to last week putting pen to paper on a new deal worth up to $6 million that keeps him in Dallas until the end of 2027, everything is coming up Flournoy right now.
A sixth-round pick, Flo had to work his butt off to even get a look-in with the Cowboys, but when he did get his chances, he made the most of them.
Whether that is on offense, where he totaled 475 yards and 4 TDs last season, or making plays on special teams, Flournoy did everything the coaching staff asked of him.
Now, as we turn for the new season, he's got a new deal to go with his newfound level of confidence.
And he's nothing but thankful to call Dallas home.
"Yeah, just the journey, what happens in the dark comes to light," Flournoy said. "All the work and hours I put in with my teammates or by myself, it's a breath of fresh air just to know that I'm considered here, this is home, they extended me, and I'm just so grateful that they think so highly of me."
Being a sixth-round pick, the odds were against Flournoy, but he's beat them.
Having been cut by the Cowboys after training camp in 2025, he could have had his career go one of two ways.
He could have faded off into the distance. Or he could fight for his NFL life, and he did just that.
But was he always confident that this would be how things would end up?
"Yes sir," he added. "I never doubted what God has planned for me. I know that I would love to be here for the rest of my career and just for them to extend me, and just shows that it's it's heading in that direction. I'm just so grateful."
With Flo now WR3 behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, more responsibilities are coming his way on offense, and he's now expected to produce at a much higher level.
So far this year,through the first two weeks of the season, Flournoy has caught seven of his 10 targets for 45 yards.
Week 3 is Cowboys vs. Ravens in Rio, and "Flo'' has a prediction of sorts for what this 1-1 team can do.
"We know our identity, and we know what we want to accomplish as an offense," Flournoy told DallasCowboys.com. "To go out and fail in Week 1, we had to redeem ourselves. We had to lean on each other to execute and really come back and bounce back, and just prove to ourselves, not just the world, who we are — that we are good, and we truly believe that.
"It wasn't a fluke that we went out and put 30 points up in Week 2. So, in Week 3, we're willing to keep improving, and to keep proving ourselves."
Having done his thing last season as a bit-part player, Flournoy is now going to be getting a lot of chances to show what he can do in 2026. ... starting next up with a chance to fulfill his promise of success in Rio.
