Cowboys corner Trevon Diggs is nearing a return...or so we thought.

There's no denying that this Trevon Diggs situation with the Dallas Cowboys is continuing down a seriously odd path.

From his incident at his home to now being healthy enough to be closer to playing, Diggs has been on the sidelines for a while now, as he rehabs his knee injury.

Stating last week he was healthy, Diggs didn't suit up against the Detroit Lions in the 44-30 loss, but it did seem like the All-Pro would be good to go for Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings.

But then comes head coach Brian Schottenheimer, when asked about Diggs at The Star on Wednesday.

"Trevon, he's still in the ramp up period, I think he does feel healthy, I know he wants to play, but at the end of the day, we have to do what we think's in the best interest of not just him, but also the football team," Schottenheimer said.

Ok, so nothing too odd there.

But Schottenheimer's last comment on Diggs is where things get interesting.

"Ultimately he's got to show us he's ready to do everything the right way."

Hmm, we wonder what Schottenheimer means by that, because that is certainly a headline-worthy comment, and it seems to hint at the fact that so far, Diggs hasn't shown the Cowboys that he can do things [rehab?] the right way, or the way the coaching staff wants him to.

Our own Cowboys insider Mike Fisher then gave his thoughts on Schottenheimer's comments.

"Schottenheimer says he has to keep showing us that he can do things in the right way,” Fish said. “I thought it was his knee? That's a weird way of saying we have to make sure that his knee is working in the right way.

"Schottenheimer didn't say that. Here we go again. That is a very cryptic answer from the coach who could have simply said he's going through rehab with his knee, and we want the best for him. That's not what he said."

Just add it to another head-scratching scenario involving Diggs and Dallas, with the corner seemingly at odds over something behind closed doors.

Since the start of the offseason, things have been a little off, with Trevon's decision to rehab away from the facility, the incident at his home, and now this, as Schottenheimer seems to insinuate that Diggs hasn't done things the right way.

Will Trevon take his place on Sunday night? After hearing Schotty's words, don't bet on it.
