The Cowboys looked slick in Arizona and have now won back-to-back preseason games.
The Dallas Cowboys rolled into State Farm Stadium on Saturday and took care of business against the Arizona Cardinals in a 34-13 win.
It is now back-to-back preseason wins for coach Brian Schottenheimer's team, as the offseason vibes and the notion that the Cowboys are "moving differently" were only reinforced.
Joe Milton was superb at quarterback, showing the improvement we all wanted to see. Malik Davis only needed one drive to show exactly why he is an RB2. Jaishawn Barham looks like a monster at linebacker and as a pass rusher.
While Shavon Revel had a nice interception early, to continue his impressive offseason.
So, without further ado, let's get our good, bad, and ugly from the win over Arizona.
Good - Joe Milton's command at QB:
It had to be, didn't it?
Milton was sublime in the first half as the starter, going 9 of 13 for 179 yards and a touchdown, while he also rushed for a touchdown late in the second quarter.
Joe was calm, in control, and didn't make any mistakes...for the second straight game.
Plus, his command at the line of scrimmage, changing in and out of plays, and his comfort in doing so were noticeable.
So too was his ability to put touch on his passes and not throw them through a receiver's chest.
There were also times when Joe stepped up in the pocket, and instead of looking to run, he peeled off, extended the play, and moved the chains through the air.
The Milton resurgence is real folks.
Bad - Offensive pre-snap penalties:
We know that penalties have been Dallas' biggest bugaboo, and while there were only four committed against the Cardinals, three were pre-snap penalties on offense.
Granted, this does feel like clutching at straws, but we know how many times Dallas shot itself in the foot last season with pre-snap penalties, and that reared its head, albeit slightly in Arizona.
Of course, it was a much better outing overall on offense, but if Schottenheimer wants to narrow down on an area for improvement, it's the pre-snap penalties.
Ugly - Howell's interception:
Again, clutching at straws here as there wasn't too much to be displeased at (rush defense maybe?), but Howell's red zone interception, which he threw off his back foot, wasn't great.
In fact, it might have sealed his fate in the QB2 battle, despite Schottenheimer stating it's far from done.
Milton was mistake-free, and Howell committed one mistake that quarterbacks simply can't make -- turnovers in the redzone.
