The Miami Dolphins' offensive line is integral to the success of running back De'Von Achane, and he pointed to how the group has come together thus far.
The Miami Dolphins have had offensive line issues for years, but that was before the arrival of Patrick Paul and Aaron Brewer. Both are powerhouses in their respective places on the line, and the team took upgrading the unit seriously by bringing in Kadyn Proctor.
Proctor figures to be an oversized guard on the left, which is where he will presumably play. Running back De'Von Achane spoke about the rookie "fitting in" and aiding in the line being synergized with one another.
"We've been here together. Like, you know what I'm saying? We add it, you know, KP, but at the same time, I feel like he is fitting right in. And I feel like, you know, we all stay healthy. We all we stay healthy. We good to go. I feel like we've been here this offseason training, working with each other. We all kind of know each other. We know each other. So, I mean, I feel like we're going to be ready," Achane said.
It is important for the Dolphins to ensure they have a line that can not only support Achane but also protect Malik Willis. Both have the ability to pick up yardage with their legs, and Achane is also a standout in the pass-catching field.
After general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan called Achane a building block of the franchise, the running back was handed a four-year, $68 million extension.
Following that, the Dolphins also gave Brewer a new deal, locking him up for three years at $52.5 million. Now, he and Achane are tied to the team for the next few seasons.
Paul figures to be another lineman who should get a new deal if he continues to be dominant in the left tackle position.
The only troublesome parts of the line are Jonah Savaiinaea, who is being moved to the right guard position, and right tackle Austin Jackson.
Savaiinaea was one of the worst-rated guards in 2025, but he was thrown into the proverbial fire as a rookie lineman. The move to the right may benefit him in a major way.
Jackson has been one of the best tackles when healthy. The issue is he has only played in 14 games over the past two seasons. He is also on borrowed time, and is cut candidate for the 2027 offseason if he has another season of injuries.
Still, the Dolphins have the makings of what could be a solid line if everything gels together. The building blocks are there, and Achane pointed to the Miami line being on the same page.
Even when Brewer signed his new deal, he had the rest of the line in the room with him, which certainly shows the kind of bonding the unit has right now. If they can stay that way, Achane might have another massive year.
The run game figures to be very important in 2026 while Miami figures out if the many one-year wide receivers brought in are legitimate starters.
