The Philadelphia Eagles rose in NFL.com's Week 3 power rankings after winning again in Week 2.
The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 after beating the Washington Commanders in Week 1 and the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.
Philadelphia faces the 1-1 Chicago Bears in Week 3 and NFL.com ranked the Eagles 10th in its Week 3 power rankings.
The Birds went up one spot from Week 2.
"The Eagles found themselves in a four-quarter battle with a scrappy Titans team that gave them everything they could handle. Philadelphia’s championship culture prevailed, though. Outside of a couple of interceptions (one ugly, the other unfortunate), Jalen Hurts was excellent as a playmaker, propelling an offense that needed him and DeVonta Smith to carry the squad to a road win. There are no freebies in this league, and a lesser team loses in Nashville on Sunday," NFL.com wrote.
Coming into the season, there was concern that Hurts would struggle since he's in another new offense. While it hasn't always looked pretty, Hurts has played well through two games. He has 467 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, two interceptions and 62 rushing yards.
The Eagles are 59-25 in the regular season with Hurts under center. They have been to two Super Bowls and won it all against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
"Jalen’s commitment to continuing to get better," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said. "Won so many games, has been so productive, and he still is the first one to [ask], ‘What can I do better and how can I give us even a better chance to win?’ I think it speaks volumes to Jalen and his preparation and the things he works on and how he is just always, always, always searching to get better.
"I think also the more quarterbacks seen in this league and the more defenses they’ve seen, obviously that’s reps, too. You have no choice but to get better when you have the amount of reps there and they continue to accumulate there of, ‘Hey, I’ve seen this. I know my front side route’s not going to look right there. I’m going to give my eyes to that. Then I’m going to work myself back through the progression.’ I think that’s just his diligence of getting better and reps of being a six-year starter now in the NFL."
Titans defender Jeffery Simmons is one of the top players in the NFL. However, he made a rookie mistake before the Eagles game.
Simmons told reporters that the Titans need to make Hurts "be a QB" to win the game. Clearly, that quote aged like milk, as Hurts threw the game-winning touchdown to Darius Cooper with nine seconds left in regulation.
"I don't even think words can describe how much you have to manage as a quarterback in this league from a responsibility standpoint, and the weight that comes with the position," Hurts told reporters. "And the responsibility. And ultimately, you've got to keep the main thing the main thing throughout that."
The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. However, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.
If Hurts plays well all season and leads the Eagles to another Super Bowl, he will get another huge extension.
The Eagles could face Case Keenum in Week 3, as Caleb Williams has a hamstring injury and Tyson Bagent is in the NFL's concussion protocol.
No offense to Keenum, but the Eagles should easily beat the Bears if Keenum is starting at QB.
