Philadelphia Eagles running back Tank Bigsby has been given a strong fantasy football outlook after Saquon Barkley's injury.
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to take down the Tennessee Titans over the weekend to move to 2-0 in the new NFL season.
Philadelphia had to earn this win, grabbing the lead with under 10 seconds left in the game. The Eagles didn't play that well, but they were able to find a way to win this contest, propelling them forward against the Titans.
In the game, star running back Saquon Barkley left due to an injury, giving backup Tanks Bigsby a chance to shine. Bigsby ran for 33 yards and one touchdown while Barkley was out of the game, helping Philadelphia grab the win.
But heading into Week 3, Barkley' status remains up in the air due to the injury. And this could push Bigsby to get the start against the Chicago Bears.
Longtime fantasy football expert Matthew Berry discussed the Eagles situation, pounding the table for Bigsby to be rostered. Berry believes that Bigsby could be a top fantasy option if Barkley is forced to miss some time.
"I don't understand why Tank Bigsby is not rostered in 100 percent of leagues. This is something we said: like Tank Bigsby needs to be rostered in 100 percent of leagues, because Saquon Barkley is rostered in 100 percent of leagues. And if Saquon Barkley were to ever miss time, Tanks Bigsby would immediately be an RB-1, top-12 running back, running behind that Eagles offensive line, and that may happen this week. Saquon Barkley leaves the game with a stinger, comes back, plays a little bit, but leaves again. He's gonna get it checked out. We don't know his status yet for this week, but it's just another reminder that, again, Tanks Bigsby needs to be rostered," Berry said.
Bigsby could be a solid option to have in fantasy, even if Barkley does play this week. Given Barkley's injury history, having his backup could be a smart move for fantasy owners of the Eagles star.
The Eagles may also look to use Bigsby a little more going forward to help ease some of the burden on Barkley. Philadelphia wants to make sure that Barkley is healthy throughout the entire NFL season, and giving him some extra rest could help.
There should be more clarity on Barklety's injury status later this week, but Bigsby could be a good move for fantasy players. The running back had a strong showing against Tenneesse, and he will likely be given playing time against the Bears no matter what.
