The Atlanta Falcons are taking on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
The Atlanta Falcons are headed into their third straight primetime game on Sunday Night as they try to turn around from last Monday's huge victory over the New Orleans Saints which was their second in a row.
This is a team that got off to as bad a start to the year as possible and now will try to win their third straight game to get back over .500 and continue to keep pace in an NFC South which they may just be the favorite to win right now. Regardless though, Atlanta must take things one game at a time with a week to week approach, and the Baltimore Ravens without their quarterback are next up on the list.
Baltimore is going to try to simplify things for Tyler Huntley, but this is a game the Falcons should win. Here are the three keys to make sure of that.
Stop the Run
Nobody in football has been better than Atlanta to this point when it comes to limiting teams on the ground, and doing it again this week with Lamar Jackson out may be enough alone to propel a victory. The Ravens will unquestionably be using Derrick Henry early on, but if the Falcons can limit him, it's going to be very tough for Huntley to beat them through the air.
Taking Henry out of the game and forcing Huntley to do just that is the winning formula.
Get the Ground Game Going on Offense
It sounds obvious, and we have said it all week, but the winning formula for this team is running the ball and stopping the run, and if Atlanta does this in any game it will be tough to beat them. Against a backup quarterback, it will be close to impossible.
Baltimore is allowing a somewhat formidable 100 rushing yards per game so far on the year, but they have not seen someone like Bijan Robinson toting the rock against them just yet. Getting him and Brian Robinson Jr. going will make for a long night for the visiting team.
Allow the Crowd to Get Into It
Despite it being Week 5, this is only the second home game of the year for the Falcons, and in the first one, the crowd was booing before the end of the first quarter. Cooper Rush isn't trotting out of that tunnel though, and Atlanta needs to capitalize on its home field advantage from the opening whistle this week.
Coming off two wins in a row, the crowd will be juiced up, it's just the Falcons job to ensure they stay juiced up.
