The Atlanta Falcons may avoid having to face one of the best in football.

The Atlanta Falcons have won two games in a row and are gunning for a third, all of them in primetime and now finally returning to their home building this weekend. With the Baltimore Ravens coming to town for Sunday Night Football, the challenge is significant.

With that being said though, it sounds like Atlanta could be on the receiving end of a major break after an injury suffered this past weekend. Nobody likes to see players go down, but it is a reality of playing in this league, and the Ravens got dealt a bad hand with their quarterback. According to numerous reports, Baltimore superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson has a sprained ankle and could miss multiple weeks.

Jackson was described as only having an "outside chance" at playing in this game, meaning that the likely starter for the Ravens would be Tyler Huntley. While Huntley is an experienced backup who has had plenty of chances on the field to provide relief for Jackson, there is no question this is a different category of quarterback.

Ravens Likely Without Lamar Jackson This Week

Jackson is one of the best in all of football and his combination of speed, escapability and electricity make him among the most difficult opposing players on the planet to deal with. It's not to say Atlanta would have no chance if Jackson were to play, however it's undeniable they would have a much better shot going up against Huntley.

At the end of the day, having both teams at full strength is what everyone wants, but if Jackson has to miss a game, the Falcons certainly would not be upset if that were to be against them. Atlanta needs to win games by any means necessary, and if it means a backup quarterback to get one in the W column, then so be it.

The Falcons are going to be keeping a close eye on the injury report throughout the week as will the fans, and if Jackson is indeed out, folks will feel a whole lot better about the possibility of a third straight victory for Atlanta. While it would be unfortunate to not see one of the biggest stars in the league healthy and on the field, it would undeniably give the Falcons a much better chance of winning the game, and at the end of the day, that is strong news for Atlanta.
