The Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker is going to be okay.

The Atlanta Falcons are headed into a huge game this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers where they will try to avoid the pitfalls of starting the season 2-5 as well as dropping to what would be 0-4 at home with a loss.

Going up against the best team in football right now, the challenge is massive, but there was a moment in the loss to the Chicago Bears which kept things in perspective and served as a reminder that sometimes, there are bigger things at stake than just a football game.

Rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels, who had been having a strong start to his career, had to be stretchered off the field and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after a scary looking injury. Thankfully, Daniels was seen walking in the locker room after the game, and the update Kevin Stefanski provided this week revealed positive news surrounding the rookie.

Stefanski Gives Great Kendal Daniels Update

"All positive news on Kendal Daniels," Stefanski told Falcons.com this week. "He's here, back in the building today. He got back from the hospital to the locker room last evening after the game, which I think you guys may have saw. Feel very very fortunate that he got the treatment he got, but also that we feel really good about where he is."

While it would likely be a little bit of a surprise to see Daniels back on the field this early after such a scary incident, it sounds like he avoided anything major and most importantly, a bad looking situation wound up being not being as serious as it appeared it could be.

Whenever both sidelines gather for a player, it's always a tough scene for everyone involved, so the Falcons and Daniels are just thankful he is going to be okay and likely will be back on the field sooner rather than later.

Daniels has 22 solo tackles so far during what has been a standout rookie season after he started to emerge as a name to watch throughout training camp over the summer. A fourth round selection out of Oklahoma, he was someone who came in known to have an extremely high football IQ, and that has already proven to be the case this early in his career.

He looks like a potential future franchise cornerstone on this defense and another tremendous middle round evaluation for the team. If Daniels can indeed get healthy and work his way back into the lineup, Atlanta is going to get to continue to see the development of a player they covet as a potential longtime star already as a rookie.
