5 Winners, 2 Losers From Jaguars' Demolition of the Indianapolis Colts

The Jaguars took care of business against the Colts on Sunday. Who helped dominate? Who failed to make an impact?

Fresh off their bye week, the Jacksonville Jaguars flexed their muscles against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

The Jaguars could have fallen victim to a possible trap game, but they didn’t overlook the rebuilding Colts. Jacksonville dominated from start to finish, improving to 5-2 after the 42-7 victory.

The Jaguars now own a three-game lead in the AFC South as they look to not only repeat as division champs, but also possibly earn the AFC’s top seed and home-field advantage throughout the players.

There were plenty of impressive performances from the Jaguars on Sunday. There were also a couple of players who weren’t able to join the party against the Colts.

Here are my five winners and two losers from the Jaguars’ masterful victory over the Colts.

5 Winners

1. Bhayshul Tuten: Tuten was magnificent once again for the Jaguars. He continues to prove that the organization made the right decision by trusting him to lead the backfield.

Against the Colts, Tuten had 104 rushing yards on 16 carries and two catches for 55 yards. He became the first player in team history to have a game with 100 rushing yards, 50 receiving yards, and both a rushing and a receiving touchdown.

2. Trevor Lawrence: Lawrence keeps playing like an MVP and Jacksonville keeps winning.

Lawrence proved he doesn’t need a lot of volume to put up big numbers. Against the Colts, he already threw 14 passes, completing 10 for 210 yards and three touchdowns. A lost fumble was the only blemish on an otherwise great outing from Lawrence.

3. Rayuan Lane III: Lane was given a much larger role than expected against the Colts. Already without Antonio Johnson and Caleb Ransaw, the Jaguars lost starting safety Eric Murray to an early injury.

Lane made the most of his opportunity. He brought the fans at EverBank Stadium to their feet with a 92-yard pick-six just before halftime, which gave the Jaguars a 28-0 lead and officially turned the game into a rout.

4. Liam Coen: Not only did Coen improve his record as a head coach to 18-6, but he also deserves plenty of praise for ensuring his team was ready to go on Sunday.

This game had all the ingredients of a trap game for Jacksonville, but Coen had his team focused and not looking ahead to Thursday’s clash with the Baltimore Ravens.

5. Branson Combs: Combs had a terrific game for the Jaguars on Sunday. He recorded his first-career interception and nearly had another.

He was also a force on special teams throughout the game. The second-year linebacker continues to grow on the job, and his game against the Colts showed why the organization is so high on him.

2 Losers

1. DaVon Hamilton: To be clear, Hamilton is not a “loser” from the game, but his knee injury could be a devastating blow to Jacksonville’s run defense.

The Jaguars' run defense is the NFL’s best and had another outstanding game, limiting Jonathan Taylor to only 23 rushing yards.

However, if Hamilton is out for an extended period, the run defense will suffer immensely.

2. Cole Van Lanen: Van Lanen has been very inconsistent this season, and the right tackle was beaten badly on one of the three sacks the offensive line allowed against the Colts’ defense that just traded star defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.

With starting left tackle Anton Harrison already out for the season with a torn ACL, the Jaguars will need Van Lanen to play much better the rest of the year
