The new league year officially opened on Wednesday afternoon, and with it came the opening of free agency.
The Jacksonville Jaguars had some work to do to get under the salary cap, but have a made of couple of moves, including keeping one of their key free-agent cornerbacks.
Here's a first roundup of the additions and subtractions in this early portion of free agency for the Jaguars.
The Jaguars are keeping cornerback Montaric Brown. He is getting a three-year contract worth $33 million. A seventh-round pick in 2022, Brown has become a key starter over the past two seasons, starting 22 games. In 2025, he appeared in 15 games and started 12, recording 51 tackles and 12 pass breakups.
The Jaguars are also bringing back linebacker Dennis Gardeck on a two-year deal worth $12 million. Gardeck played in all 17 games last season, his first with the Jaguars after seven with the Arizona Cardinals, and recorded 48 tackles, six tackles for a loss, two passes defended and one forced fumble.
The Jaguars are also adding RB DeeJay Dallas, DT Matt Dickerson, TE Quintin Morris and CB Keith Taylor.
Two of the biggest, if not the two biggest, free agents from the Jaguars are both gone. RB Travis Etienne is joining the New Orleans Saints on a four-year, $52 million contract. Etienne is coming off rushing for 1,107 yards and seven touchdowns, plus catching 36 passes for 292 yards and six touchdowns.
Linebacker Devin Lloyd is getting a three-year, $45 million contract to join the Carolina Panthers, who also shelled out a four-year, $120 million contract for former Philadelphia Eagles edge Jaelan Phillips. Lloyd had an All-Pro season in 2025, posting 81 tackles, 1.5 sacks, six tackles for a loss, five interceptions and a 99-yard pick-six.
Cornerback Greg Newsome II is off to the New York Giants, signing a one-year, $10 million contract. The Jaguars acquired Newsome in the middle of the season from the Cleveland Browns. He 12 games during the season, posting 29 tackles and six passes defended while in Jacksonville.
Other losses thus far include TE Johnny Mundt to the Philadelphia Eagles and safety Andrew Wingard to the Arizona Cardinals.
