The Jacksonville Jaguars' official depth chart had some surprises on all three facets of the ball. See which players have moved into starting roles ahead of Week 1.
This Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars kick off the 2026-2027 season at home against the Cleveland Browns.
Ahead of game one, the team released their official Week 1 depth chart, with some surprises littered across both sides of the ball.
Below, I will share some of the most interesting findings from the release.
Offense
Emanuel Pregnon, rookie offensive guard from Oregon, will get the start in his NFL debut.
Pregnon had a strong offseason, but with Jacksonville making a move for Daniel Faalele, his status as a starter had been up in the air.
But, he has since been elevated to the starting left guard role, filling in next to left tackle Anton Harrison.
Right tackle Cole Van Lanen is a new addition to the starting O-line group as well, as he was recently lifted off the PUP list and has made big strides in his recovery.
Having Van Lanen healthy is crucial, as he had a strong showing last season and was rewarded with an extension.
Defense
Former No. 2 overall pick Travis Hunter is another interesting note, as he is listed as the fourth wide receiver on the depth chart, but No. 1 at defensive back.
Hunter's two-way outlook going forward had been challenged this offseason, but both General Manager James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen have confirmed they are still planning to play Hunter on both sides.
It was expected that his offensive role would be diminished, giving the 2025 Heisman winner a larger role in the secondary.
Linebackers Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs remain co-starters alongside tackle-machine Foyesade Oluokun, as both players made significant plays during training camp.
Combs is a stronger player in coverage, while Miller is more of a tackler and pursuit player.
Having these two players with contrasting skillsets alongside the trusty Oluokun should help offset the loss of Devin Lloyd in free agency.
Special Teams
Punter Logan Cooke and long snapper Ross Matiscik highlight special teams coordinator Heath Farwell's group, having been named team captains earlier this week.
But, perhaps the most notable listing on the depth chart is the punt returning spot, where breakout wide receiver Parker Washington is the lone player in the position.
Last season, Washington was extremely dynamic as a punt returner, recording 341 yards and two scores.
But, with his development as a pass catcher, his role on special teams going forward had become a question mark.
Having Washington returning punts adds another element to his game, and gives Farwell a threatening player making catches.
