New York Jets' head coach Aaron Glenn announced on Friday afternoon that rookie Brady Cook will be the team's starting quarterback in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

As the New York Jets continue to prepare for the team’s upcoming matchup on Sunday, the team’s starting quarterback has been announced on Friday afternoon.

Jets’ head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that rookie quarterback Brady Cook will be the starter for the team’s Week 15 battle against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The news of Cook being named the starting quarterback should come as no surprise to fans, as veteran Tyrod Taylor did not practice this week after sustaining a groin injury in last week’s contest against the Miami Dolphins.

Fellow quarterback Justin Fields was also not able to practice this week as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

Cook, a 2025 undrafted free agent from Missouri, made his NFL debut last week against the Dolphins after Taylor’s exit from the contest.

In his first game, the 24-year-old rookie struggled to get the offense going on Sunday, completing 14 of his 30 pass attempts for 163 yards and two interceptions. Cook was also sacked six times in the matchup, which is well-above the average 3.7 sacks the Jets’ offensive line allows per game in 2025.

Unfortunately for Cook, he will not catch a break in his first-career NFL start, as he is set to face a Jaguars team that is fighting for a spot in the playoffs.

To make matters worse, offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand will not be able to lean on New York’s stout run game due to the Jaguars’ defensive ranking first in rushing yards allowed per game this season (82.9).

For the Jets’ offense to find success on Sunday, it’s clear Engstrand must find a way to create easy opportunities for Cook in the passing game.

One of the keys to unlocking the young quarterback will be getting rookie tight end Mason Taylor involved early in the contest. Taylor finished last week as the team’s leader in receptions and receiving yards, tallying five catches for 51 yards.

While Hall may not be a factor on the ground, he will also be an excellent pass catcher for Cook out of the backfield and in the short game.
