The New York Jets got a brutal preseason NFL power ranking from ESPN.
ESPN believes the New York Jets are the fourth-worst team in the NFL entering Week 1.
Only the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals ranked lower than the Jets in ESPN's preseason NFL power rankings.
The Jets not only went 3-14 last season in Year 1 of the Aaron Glenn era, but they also became the first team in NFL history not to record a defensive interception and to lose five straight games by 23 or more points.
In Year 2 of the Glenn era, the Jets face the Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Browns, New England Patriots, Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings.
While all signs point to the Jets missing the playoffs again this season, Glenn's group shouldn't be one of the laughingstocks of the league after a strong draft and offseason transaction cycle.
In the 2026 draft, the Jets did pretty well. They selected David Bailey, Kenyon Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, Darrell Jackson Jr., Cade Klubnik, Anez Cooper and VJ Payne.
Before the draft, the Jets acquired Geno Smith from the Raiders, Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins and T'Vondre Sweat from the Titans and signed Demario Davis and Tim Patrick in free agency.
Smith enters this season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions in the NFL. His starting record is 42-56-0 and he threw 17 interceptions last season.
The odds of Smith turning back the clock are very low, even though he looked pretty good in the preseason.
It will be fascinating to see how many games NYJ wins in 2026. The Jets are actually best suited to have a bad record again so they can have a high pick in the 2027 draft and select Arch Manning or Dante Moore, but Glenn may lose his job if New York finishes with one of the worst records in the league again.
Jets RB Breece Hall can go from 12th to fourth on the franchise's career rushing list this season, per ESPN. Hall sits at 3,398 yards. He needs 888 yards to pass Matt Snell (4,285) for the No. 4 spot.
To get there, Hall will leapfrog notables such as Hall of Famer John Riggins (3,880) and Thomas Jones (3,833). He's a long way from the franchise leader, Hall of Famer Curtis Martin (10,302).
