After winning their first game of the 2025 NFL season in week eight, the New York Jets were able to go into the bye week with a huge morale boost for the rest of the year.

The bye week couldn’t have come at a better time for the struggling franchise, as Jets’ star receiver Garrett Wilson sustained a knee injury during New York’s week six battle against the Denver Broncos. This kept Wilson out of the lineup for two weeks, but head coach Aaron Glenn recently gave fans hope that Wilson is trending in the right direction.

On Monday, Glenn told reporters that Wilson will practice this week prior to the Jets’ week 10 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

“Listen, [Garrett] is going to practice this week, so I’m looking forward to him getting out in practice,” Glenn said. “Let’s see how that goes during the week. I don’t want to place too much on him right now, but I am excited about getting out there and practicing this week.”

    Wilson's Impact In 2025

Before suffering a knee injury, Wilson was the catalyst of New York’s passing attack, racking up 395 yards and four touchdowns on 36 receptions.

Despite the team’s instability at the quarterback position, the former 2022 first-round pick finished four of his first six games this year with 6+ catches and 70+ yards as quarterback Justin Fields' reliable pass catcher.

Luckily for Wilson, Fields showed promise in his last start against the Cincinnati Bengals, completing roughly 66 percent of his passes for 244 yards and one touchdown. While the Bengals’ defense may not be a true test for Fields, the victory could help boost the young quarterback’s confidence for the rest of the season.

If Wilson is able to play this week, he will have a tough first matchup back when the Jets host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Led by defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, the Browns’ defense is the only real strength of the franchise in 2025. As a unit, Cleveland ranks second in yards allowed per game (267.9) and fifth in passing yards allowed per game (182.6) this season.

With newly-acquired cornerback Tyson Campbell questionable to play, the Browns will likely keep star defensive back Denzel Ward on Wilson.
